  1. 'Villa have their hands tied'published at 19:28 British Summer Time 1 September

    Stephen Warnock
Former Liverpool and Aston Villa defender on Transfer Deadline Day Summer 2025

    On PSR and Uefa regulations...

They have the ability to spend, but they don't have the ability to spend because they have their hands tied.

That's the difficult situation we see Newcastle and Villa in.

They have these rich owners, but they're not allowed to spend money.

I don't agree with it and I think it is wrong.

  2. What are some other deadlines?published at 19:26 British Summer Time 1 September

The deadline for the Premier League and all EFL clubs has passed - and also in Germany, Italy and France.

But many windows are still open.

    • Scotland, Spain (23:00) and Portugal's (00:00) deadline is later on Monday.
    • The Eredivisie deadline is 24 hours later at 23:00 on Tuesday, 2 September.
    • Belgium and Switzerland's window closes on Monday, 8 September.
    • The Saudi Pro League window closes on Tuesday, 23 September.
    • Greece's window closes on Sunday, 12 September.
    • The Serbian Super Liga's deadline is on Friday, 17 September.

Players will not be able to move to the United States after the Major League Soccer deadline window closed on 21 August.

  3. 'Elanga is a brilliant signing'published at 19:24 British Summer Time 1 September

    Stephen Warnock
Former Liverpool and Aston Villa defender on Transfer Deadline Day Summer 2025

Newcastle are better because of another year together with Eddie Howe.

The balance in midfield, moving Sandro Tonali to a deeper position made them a better team.

I think Anthony Elanga is a brilliant signing, the pace they have in forward areas is very positive.

  4. What's left to be confirmed tonight...published at 19:23 British Summer Time 1 September

Did you think the 7pm deadline would mean we'd have everything done and dusted by bedtime? Surely not.

There is still so much more to come - including:

Confirmation of a new British transfer record fee in the shape of Alexander Isak from Newcastle after a £125m deal was agreed. Arne Slot will also be hoping the club can get Marc Guehi over the line but there is a possible complication as Crystal Palace haven't found an adequate replacement yet.

Newcastle have agreed a deal with Brentford for striker Yoane Wissa who has undergone a medical in the north east.

Man City are in advanced talks to sign goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma for £30m, with Ederson set to join Fenerbahce in a £12m switch and confirmation of those should happen at some point over the next few hours.

Man Utd have agreed a move for Belgian keeper Senne Lammens, which ended their pursuit of Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez.

Aston Villa are closing on loan deals for Harvey Elliott and Jadon Sancho.

And plenty more, so sit tight, we'll have all those deals - whether confirmed or fallen through - right here.

Raheem Sterling is 30 years old and has 123 Premier League goals. And now there is the very real prospect that he just won't play any football or really do anything for the next four months at least.

Ben Chilwell has agreed a two-year contract to join Strasbourg, who have the same BlueCo ownership as Chelsea, on a permanent basis.

The England international will sign a two-year contract which is the same as the remaining length of his contract at Stamford Bridge.

Both Raheem Sterling and Axel Disasi are staying at Chelsea having been in the 'bomb squad' all summer.

Yoane Wissa's £55m move from Brentford to Newcastle is one of the many Premier League deals we're still waiting to be confirmed.

  11. 'Is Woltemade or Wissa better than Isak?'published at 19:14 British Summer Time 1 September

    Stephen Warnock
Former Liverpool and Aston Villa defender on Transfer Deadline Day Summer 2025

Is Nick Woltemade or Yoane Wissa better than Isak? No they're not, but the potential is there.

The Wissa one is interesting, and it's an awful lot of money for a 28-year-old.

Woltemade is a player who is potentially good, but £69m for someone who had a great six months is a lot of money as well.

  12. DONE DEAL: Wednesday sign Amasspublished at 19:13 British Summer Time 1 September

Just when it looked like Sheffield Wednesday wouldn't be adding to their threadbare squad they now have!

Manchester United midfielder Harry Amass has joined the struggling Owls on a season-long loan deal.

The 18-year-old made five appearances in the Premier League for the Red Devils last season.

  13. Could Guehi's deal fall through?published at 19:11 British Summer Time 1 September

    Sami Mokbel
BBC Sport senior football correspondent on BBC Radio 5 Live

Marc Guehi is in real kind of jeopardy.

A deal sheet is now in for the Marc Guehi deal to be completed and that is now down to Palace wanting to sanction his move to Anfield.

Everything is in place, but they want at least two new centre-backs in the door.

They have one, Jaydee Canvot from Toulouse, but they want another one. They thought they had Igor Julio from Brighton, but he went to West Ham instead.

It has left them in a pickle.

  14. Deal sheet in for Guehi movepublished at 19:09 British Summer Time 1 September

We're into deal sheet territory and word is from the Telegraph, external is one has been submitted for the Marc Guehi move from Crystal Palace to Liverpool although this move still remains in the balance.

Will he sign or will he stay?

Imagine if everyone at Anfield forgot the Alexander Isak deal wasn't actually completed and just went home.

  16. Confirmed deadline day deals so farpublished at 19:07 British Summer Time 1 September

Here is a recap of the confirmed deals that have been announced this deadline day and it might not be as exciting as you were expecting...

There have been a couple of Old Trafford departures so far today. Rasmus Hojlund has completed a loan move away from Man Utd to Serie A side Napoli in a deal which could be made permanent for £38m. Antony has also got his move away and joined La Liga side Real Betis. And former Man Utd defender Victor Lindelof has completed a free transfer to Aston Villa.

The most expensive deal of the day so for comes from Wolves who have signed striker Tolu Arokodare from Genk for £24m.

Brighton have loaned out Facundo Buonanotte and Jeremy Sarmiento to Chelsea and Cremonese respectively.

Bournemouth have signed Alex Jimenez on loan from AC Milan, alongside Serbian defender Veljko Milosavljevic from Red Star Belgrade.

Sambi Lokonga has completed a permanent deal away from Arsenal to Bundesliga side Hamburg.

Burnley have signed midfielder Florentino Luis on a season-long loan with a view to possibly making it permanent.

And finally, Odsonne Edouard has left Selhurst Park to join French side Lens on a three-year deal and Crystal Palace have signed centre-back Jaydee Canvot from Toulouse - could that have potential repercussions for another much talked about deal later today?

That's all... but don't worry there should be plenty more to come.

Swansea are poised to complete the loan signing of Burnley winger Manuel Benson.

The 28-year-old has been at Turf Moor for the last three years but made just three league appearances for the Clarets as they won promotion to the Premier League last season.

The Angola international has scored 14 goals in 51 appearances for Burnley since joining from Royal Antwerp.

Benson will join striker Adam Idah in south Wales after he made a £6m move from Celtic earlier today.

Usually you picture with the 23:00 BST deadline everyone is rushing to try to get things done so they can go to bed.

But no such rush tonight. You can take another three hours past the deadline and still have time for a couple of pints before last orders in the pub.
