Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou on loss to Crystal Palace: "It was a big, emotion night for the whole group on Thursday.

"We got back late, didn't train Friday like we normally do so preparation was limited.

"Those things aren't excuses but they're maybe reasons why the lads didn't perform at the levels we wanted them to [against Crystal Palace]."

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou on different approach in Europe to the league: "Some of it is just personnel. When you're putting teams together, it's a sum of all parts that makes it effective.

"When you make changes, you're not able to play with the same fluency and rhythm. If you look at our back four in Europe, the reason that works so well is that they all complement each other.

"We've got the speed, the power, the technical ability, we've got the calmness we need so it all kind of fits together.

"The same with our front three and midfield. When you have elements of that missing, there are 11 players out there but it doesn't allow you to play in the same manner and look as fluent."

  3. 'Really promising signs - then he gets injured'published at 13:24 British Summer Time

Tottenham v Man Utd (Wed, 21 May, 20:00 BST)

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou on Dejan Kulusevski importance: "We've obviously lost Madders and Bergvall in the last two weeks.

"Yesterday I had three players to back-up and they were all only going to play 45 minutes - it's sod's law that one of them gets injured.

"So he is important but right now, they're all important. The thing with Deki is that he's missed some football but he was just getting back into it, there were some really promising signs at Bodo.

"He started to show some of that real attacking creativity. Then he gets injured. He is important so fingers crossed he's OK."

  4. 'A knock more than anything significant'published at 13:21 British Summer Time

Tottenham v Man Utd (Wed, 21 May, 20:00 BST)

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou on Dejan Kulusevski injury: "We'll see. He was a bit sore this morning with his knee.

"It looks like a knock at this stage but we're going to let it settle for the next 24 hours and see.

"The initial feeling is it was more of a knock than anything significant."

Ange Postecoglou on that tackle on Johnson: "I don't know if you saw training but we had Reguilon slide tackling Brennan Johnson and they were on the same team!

"It seems to be how our season has gone.

"You want to protect the integrity of training. Thankfully nothing too serious. We just have to hope and pray to the football gods."

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou on Son Heung-Min: "He understands better than most what a trophy would mean for this football club and for him personally.

"He's had an unbelievable career here, done so much but the key bit - that silverware that every player craves - he knows how important that is for the club."

  7. 'Son feeling good'published at 13:13 British Summer Time

Tottenham v Man Utd (Wed, 21 May, 20:00 BST)

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou on injuries and Son Heung-Min's fitness: "We've got enough injuries, I'm putting them in cotton wool for the next 10 days.

"From a physical standpoint, [Son] is good. It's important he got some minutes yesterday, more for himself psychologically.

"He had a good session today, didn't do the whole session because he played yesterday. He feels good and we've got eight or nine days to go.

    "We can build him up."

  8. Johnson caught by a Reguilon tackle in trainingpublished at 13:11 British Summer Time

Tottenham v Man United (Wed, 21 May, 20:00 BST)

    Tottenham Hotspur

There was a concerning moment caught on social media earlier, as Tottenham defender Sergio Reguilon slid into top scorer Brennan Johnson during training.

Completely innocuous, of course, but it caused some concern for Johnson. He was seen in some pain afterwards before carrying on.

    That's all that Postecoglou needs...

  9. 'Every team has their own story'published at 13:08 British Summer Time

Tottenham v Man United (Wed, 21 May, 20:00 BST)

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou: "Whenever you get to such a significant moment, on a personal level but even more importantly as a group, there's an understanding of what we've had to overcome to get there.

"Every team has got their own story. The emotion of it and having to overcome the odds to get to where you are. It's important to recognise that.

"I was really proud that against a backdrop of some real difficulties, we've found a way to get to the final. It gives us the opportunity of something pretty special."

  10. Kulusevski injury 'a knock'published at 13:05 British Summer Time

The worry from Sunday's defeat to Crystal Palace was an injury to Spurs attacker Dejan Kulusevski.

Postecoglou has just said that it looks to be "a knock" and they're going to "let it settle" for the next day or so.

With James Maddison missing through injury, he could be key in Bilbao next week.

    Full quotes to come.

  11. Why are Tottenham holding a Europa League final news conference?published at 13:03 British Summer Time

    Good question!

It's a preview of their match against Manchester United in Bilbao next Wednesday.

Spurs still have a Premier League game against Aston Villa on Friday and Postecoglou will be speaking before that game and again in Bilbao before next Wednesday's final.

This conference is a chance for the media to speak to Postecoglou and players before the intensity cranks up a notch.

  15. Forest's recent league formpublished at 12:48 British Summer Time

    Nottingham Forest 2-2 Leicester

Forest have spent so much of the season in the top four, but when it came to crunch time in April/May, when it truly matters, their form has dipped.

Only one win in their past six Premier League games:

    • Tottenham Hotspur 1-2 Nottingham Forest
    • Nottingham Forest 0-1 Everton
    • Aston Villa 2-1 Nottingham Forest
    • Nottingham Forest 0-2 Brentford
    • Crystal Palace 1-1 Nottingham Forest
    • Nottingham Forest 2-2 Leicester City

Even just 12 months ago, the notion of Forest playing football in Europe seemed so incredibly removed from reality. I really hope we as a club can celebrate what is in reality a pretty monumental achievement to qualify for European competition after the dark days we’ve witnessed since dropping out of the top flight 25 years ago, and not just be disappointed at missing out on a top 5 position, as painful as it is right now. As a Forest fan who missed out on the UEFA Cup run in the mid 90s, one of my biggest dreams has always been to travel to see us play away in Europe, and frankly, I don't care whether it's Molde, Milan or Maribor.

  17. Will Forest tie down Nuno?published at 12:04 British Summer Time

Nuno Espirito Santo was appointed Nottingham Forest manager in December 2023.

He had not managed in the Premier League since he was sacked by Tottenham after only four months in charge in 2021.

But Nuno admitted he took over Spurs at the wrong time.

The 51-year-old previously spent four years at Wolves, guiding the club to promotion from the Championship in his first season before consecutive seventh-placed finishes in the Premier League, while they also reached the Europa League quarter-finals.

After his departure from Tottenham, Nuno joined Al-Ittihad in July 2022 and led the Jeddah-based side to the Saudi title, but he was dismissed in November 2023, just 12 games into the campaign, after a run of poor results.

He will enter the final year of his Forest contract next season, following a first season that avoided relegation, before now qualifying for Europe.

As football fans, we deserve respect and unity, not the shame of watching our owner publicly confront manager Nuno in such a humiliating way after yesterday’s Leicester match. This isn’t just a moment of frustration—it’s a heart breaking display that shakes the foundation of the club we love. We stand with Nuno and the amazing job he has done for Forest.

For the season that Nuno has had, I think it's crazy to go on the pitch and embarrass him like that. There'll be clubs out there looking at him, wanting to sign him. If I was him, I'd be entertaining that now. You can't do those things in public.

  20. 'We owe a lot to the Marinakis family'published at 11:52 British Summer Time

    Nottingham Forest 2-2 Leicester

    Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo, when pushed on whether he was comfortable with being approached in so public a manner by Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis, again praised the owner.

"It is because of the owner and his passion that we are growing as a club. He pushes us. He wants us to be better," Nuno added.

"It is his passion and desire to be a big club - 30,000 people felt the same today. For sure, many of them would go on the pitch and shake us down.

"Us as a club, we owe a lot to the Marinakis family."
