Summary

  1. Slot's flying start to life at Anfieldpublished at 09:03 British Summer Time 13 September

Liverpool v Nottingham Forest (Sat, 15:00 BST)

    Liverpool

Despite uncertainty off the field with the futures of key players Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold up in the air, Liverpool are certainly shining on the field.

The Reds and Manchester City are the only Premier League teams to hold a 100% record after the opening three matches.

Arne Slot faced a tough opener away at newly-promoted Ipswich before welcoming Brentford to Anfield - both ending in 2-0 wins.

The first big test arrived in the form of Manchester United at Old Trafford but Liverpool made light work of their rivals with a convincing 3-0 victory.

Can Liverpool make it four wins on the spin tomorrow against Nottingham Forest?

Slot is now talking to the media and we will have the top lines from his news conference coming up shortly.

  2. Goalkeeper Kelleher wants to leave?published at 08:59 British Summer Time 13 September

Liverpool v Nottingham Forest (Sat, 15:00 BST)

The aforementioned unhappy player appears to be keeper Caoimhin Kelleher. He has said he wants to leave Liverpool to “be a number one” as the club looks like they have chosen to go “in a different direction” by securing a deal to sign Georgia keeper Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia next summer.

There is always concern from clubs about injuries during the international break and it seems Liverpool have not escaped without a casualty on that front.

According to reports, attacking midfielder Harvey Elliott looks like he’ll be out for at least a month with a fractured foot suffered on England Under-21 duty.

We’ll hear what Slot has to say on all that and more soon.

  3. Liverpool's contract situationpublished at 08:52 British Summer Time 13 September

Liverpool v Nottingham Forest (Sat, 15:00 BST)

    BBC Sport

It may have been the international break but there has still been plenty going on concerning Liverpool.

Contract situations, an unhappy player and, of course, injuries have dominated the Reds landscape and the media will get the chance to ask Liverpool boss Arne Slot about them this morning.

Slot will be chatting to the media at about 09:00 BST prior to his side’s return to action in a home game against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

In terms of contract situations, the talk has been dominated by the deals of right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold, centre-back Virgil van Dijk and forward Mohamed Salah running out next summer.

Alexander-Arnold has yet to give too much away about his situation but Van Dijk has said he wants to sign a new deal while on international duty with the Netherlands.

Salah said after the 3-0 win at Manchester United in the club’s last game that nobody at Liverpool had spoken to him about a new deal before reports emerged that he wanted to extend his stay with the Anfield outfit.

  6. 'Sport's trial of the century to begin'published at 08:33 British Summer Time 13 September

    Dan Roan
    BBC sports editor

Finally, after years of build-up, perhaps English football's biggest and most controversial contest is set to begin.

On one side, the Premier League. On the other, its defending champions and dominant force Manchester City.

City face 115 charges for allegedly breaking the financial rules of the competition they have won for a record-breaking four consecutive seasons.

Those charges will be heard at an independent hearing, which is set to start on Monday at an unknown location, subject to any late legal delays. Billed as sport's 'trial of the century', it is expected to run for 10 weeks, with a verdict expected in early 2025.

It marks a defining stage in a legal dispute the like of which the game has never seen and which could bring seismic consequences for both sides.

Everton have offered former Liverpool goalkeeper Rylee Foster a short-term deal but the contract is still yet to be signed.

There is no rush, though, as she is a free agent and can complete the paperwork after the deadline passes.

With a few clubs still looking for goalkeepers, perhaps she is keeping her options open. Everton seems the likely destination though.

  9. Will Walsh leave Barcelona today?published at 08:17 British Summer Time 13 September

    Emma Sanders
BBC Sport senior women's football reporter

There has been plenty of discussion around England midfielder Keira Walsh this week.

She is keen for a move back to the WSL for personal reasons but Barcelona do not want to sell with a year remaining on her contract.

Arsenal and Chelsea have been circling for some time, knowing a world-record fee would be needed should Barca become open to selling.

It's unlikely she will go anywhere today though, with Barca playing Real Sociedad at 19:00 BST tonight. The window might have passed.

It's looking likely she will leave on a free next summer having already told Barcelona she does not intend to extend her contract. They will, of course, try to persuade her otherwise, so we will have to see.

  10. What do we expect to happen in the WSL?published at 08:12 British Summer Time 13 September

    Emma Sanders
BBC Sport senior women's football reporter

The WSL and Women's Championship deadline closes at 23:00 BST today and there's still some business to be done.

Crystal Palace are closing a few deals and hope to add to their squad. I believe one of the players they have been in contact with is Wales defender Lily Woodham from Seattle Reign.

Aston Villa are also set to confirm the club-record signing of Brazil forward Gabi Nunes for more than £250,000.

West Ham are looking to add to their squad and will be working right up until the deadline, with defenders a priority.

Brighton are also looking to remain active and are rumoured to be eyeing up Manchester United forward Nikita Parris. No agreements have been reached or official bids made yet though.

Tottenham's position has not changed as they would still like a midfielder to replace the injured Kit Graham, but they are running out of time. Manchester United want a goalkeeper too.
