  1. 'No-one cares about player welfare'published at 09:52 British Summer Time 23 May

Nottingham Forest v Chelsea (Sun, 16:00 BST)

    Chelsea

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca on whether he is worried about players being fatigued before next season:

"I am not thinking about next season, I am thinking about the next two games [for Chelsea]. But for sure there is a chance we have players that, because of the amount of games, can be injured or tired and then we'll see how we need to be."

On a potential lack of concern for the players and their welfare, Maresca added:

"But no-one cares about player welfare. If they are going to be tired, then they are not going to play. How are you going to manage that? It's simply like that. But I don't think there is much attention about players. Otherwise, it's not normal the amount of games they play."

  2. Slot 'hoping Gomez can play some minutes'published at 09:46 British Summer Time 23 May

Liverpool v Crystal Palace (Sun, 16:00 BST)

    Liverpool

Liverpool boss Arne Slot on Joe Gomez returning to the bench for Monday's defeat at Brighton: "He wasn't ready but there was a spot on the bench where I could show my gratitude towards him for what he has done on the pitch for us.

"Gomez is one of the nicest players you can meet but he is also inspiring his team-mates when he is not playing.

"He has more impact on our success than the outside might know. I am hoping he can play some minutes on Sunday, if he ticks all the boxes."

  3. Maresca will use summer to 'understand' poor away formpublished at 09:42 British Summer Time 23 May

Nottingham Forest v Chelsea (Sun, 16:00 BST)

    Chelsea

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca on the drastic difference in his team's home and away form:

"It is something for sure, during the short break, we have to analyse. I also said many times I like to analyse game by game. Sometimes we played away and we didn't deserve to lose or even draw. But for sure if we struggle away, there is a reason why, and we are going to use the break to understand the reason why.

"On the other side, at home, we won almost all the games. So, there is also a good part as well."

  4. International call-ups 'good for players' but they must be 'protected'published at 09:40 British Summer Time 23 May

Nottingham Forest v Chelsea (Sun, 16:00 BST)

    Chelsea

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca on today's England squad announcement and if he is concerned about disruption to the Blues' Club World Cup preparations:

"I didn't speak to any one of them (the players). The only thing I can say, and I've said this many times, is that we are happy because that is something good for the players, representing the country, and for the club also."

On whether he considered asking international team coaches to leave certain players out due to fatigue: "No, not for me."

Maresca further talked about the sheer number of games that players are playing: "For me, this is not normal, it's not correct. I can understand that people are thinking that they earn a lot of money, but it's not about money, it's about protecting the players."

  5. Reds need 'elite mentality' to win back-to-back titlespublished at 09:37 British Summer Time 23 May

Liverpool v Crystal Palace (Sun, 16:00 BST)

    Liverpool

Liverpool boss Arne Slot on building on this season: "I don't know yet if we will have that serial mentality to show up season after season. We will see on 8 July when we come back together.

"Many have won the league but not many have won multiple seasons in a row.

"Not everyone has that elite mentality. Look at Mohamed Salah, who has been at that type of elite mentality for seven years in a row. He was the fittest when we arrived at pre-season. You need that to become a serial winner."

I'd love to see Palace give Liverpool a guard of honour for winning the league and then Liverpool give Palace a guard of honour for winning the cup. Would be a lovely touch of class from both teams.

  7. Klopp attending final game 'will be nice'published at 09:33 British Summer Time 23 May

Liverpool v Crystal Palace (Sun, 16:00 BST)

    Liverpool

Liverpool boss Arne Slot on his predecessor Jurgen Klopp being in attendance on Sunday: "I have heard that, which is nice.

"It is the hardest trophy to win as cup trophies you can win by lucky draws or be lucky in a few games - like winning a penalty shootout.

"It is harder to win the league and this is the period when the league is at its toughest. You saw 16th and 17th place playing in a European final for the first time (Tottenham against Manchester United on Thursday)."

  8. Blues 'need to make some changes' before European finalpublished at 09:32 British Summer Time 23 May

Nottingham Forest v Chelsea (Sun, 16:00 BST)

    Chelsea

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca said that he wasn't focused on rotating players with a view to next Wednesday's Conference League final:

"Now the focus is on Sunday's game. The next one is the most important one and then after that we can focus on Wednesday's game. I said this the other day, we don't have enough time to recover the energy so, for sure, we need to rotate and change things. We need to make some changes."

  9. Slot 'not decided yet' whether Alexander-Arnold will playpublished at 09:24 British Summer Time 23 May

Liverpool v Crystal Palace (Sun, 16:00 BST)

    Liverpool

Liverpool boss Arne Slot on if he will play Trent Alexander-Arnold for his final Reds game this weekend: "I have not decided on that one yet. This should be the day that everyone should enjoy. It has been 35 years that Liverpool fans have been waiting for this moment.

"I am hoping we can add a moment like Tottenham when we won the league. Everyone that is in the stadium deserves to be there, which includes Trent, who has been part of a successful season and successful years at this club.

"I have a lot of trust that our fans will deliver like against Tottenham again."

Liverpool celebrated clinching the title as they beat Tottenham 5-1 at home on 27 April, but Alexander-Arnold was booed in their most recent home game against Arsenal after confirming he will leave the club when his contract expires this summer.

    Chelsea

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca on the importance of Enzo Fernandez amid links to Real Madrid:

"Enzo is very important for us. He is one of our captains, he is one of the leaders. This season has been very good and he can be even better next season, starting from the first day. [I've] nothing to say about speculation, his focus is on us and that is the most important thing."

On whether the Argentine midfielder is staying next season, Maresca simply said "yes".

Nottingham Forest v Chelsea (Sun, 16:00 BST)

    Chelsea

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca is also speaking to the media and was asked about the irony of former Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi, who now plays for Nottingham Forest, potentially deciding the club's Champions League fate:

"At this moment he is a Forest player and I have no doubt he is going to try his best for his team and we just need to focus on our players and our team."

  12. 'A lot of hopes' that Salah wins Ballon d'Orpublished at 09:12 British Summer Time 23 May

Liverpool v Crystal Palace (Sun, 16:00 BST)

    Liverpool

Liverpool boss Arne Slot is now speaking to the media and was asked about Reds forward Mohamed Salah saying it is his best chance of winning the Ballon d'Or: "A lot of hopes. It is completely true as he has had very, very good seasons here. This one probably stands out in terms of numbers and we won the league.

"He is not the only player who has had a great season. If there is ever a chance then it is this season."

Liverpool's 'other' player of the season is Mac Allister. I've watched him all season, and the World Cup winner has shown that he is genuinely a world class talent. Gravenberch was excellent, Van Dijk was a rock at the back, but Mac Allister is the conduit that all our quality moments flow through. He makes up for a lack of pace with excellent reading of the game, puts himself about a lot for a diminutive player, and only scores worldies. When you think about what we paid for him, unbelievable signing.

On reaching a final with "luck", Liverpool boss Arne Slot felt his side did not get any when they were knocked out of the Champions League by Paris St-Germain.

The Reds topped the league phase of the new-look competition, winning seven of their eight games, including victory over Real Madrid.

"We were very unlucky that we had to play PSG in March, because in this country we don't have a winter break," Slot said.

"So we had to play from November to March with all these Real Madrid games and City games... all these tough games in between.

"And then at the end of that period we had to play one team that can play just as intense as we can, only they had a winter break and we were in the end of a four-month period.

"So I think if we could have played them in April, that would have been better."

    Bruno Fernandes (Man Utd)

No player in the Premier League has created more chances than Bruno Fernandes and doing that in a struggling Manchester United team is all the more impressive.

    Ryan Gravenberch (Liverpool)

Probably Liverpool's most important player, bar Mohamed Salah, given he helps build attacks at the base of Arne Slot's midfield in their possession-based system.

    Moises Caicedo (Chelsea)

Most people considered Cole Palmer to be Chelsea's most important player but the British transfer record midfielder has been the star for Enzo Maresca's team this season.

  16. What's to come?published at 08:53 British Summer Time 23 May

Liverpool manager Arne Slot is set to face the media shortly but he is not the only Premier League boss we're set to hear from after 09:00 BST.

Chelsea's Enzo Maresca and Newcastle's Eddie Howe will also be holding their pre-match news conference.

Today the England men's boss Thomas Tuchel will name his next squad too. If you'd like to keep a closer eye on that, you can follow our live page on the England squad announcement here.

  17. 'All these things are excuses for teams that don't win the league'published at 08:49 British Summer Time 23 May

Liverpool v Crystal Palace (Sun, 16:00 BST)

    Dan Roan
    BBC sports editor

Liverpool head coach Arne Slot says excuses are "for teams that don't win the league", and it is "nice" his side won the Premier League so he does not have to rely on them.

Reflecting on leading the club to a 20th top-flight title in his first year since succeeding Jurgen Klopp, the Dutchman told BBC Sport of his pride it had been achieved despite some challenges.

"All these excuses you could give to Liverpool... with us maybe not spending... or not bringing new players in, or taking over from someone," he said.

"All these things are excuses for teams that don't win the league, and it's nice that if you have all these excuses, that you don't have to use them, but you still just won it."

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has highlighted the fact Liverpool had secured 82 points when they won the title, while the Gunners managed 89 and 84 points in each of the past two years but finished runners-up.

Asked about the Spaniard's comments, Reds boss Arne Slot said: "Everybody has the right to have his own opinion... what he meant was: 'Sometimes you have to be in the right place at the right time.'

"I totally agree with him on that. Only not in a Premier League season. So in a Champions League, FA Cup, World Cups, then it is about 'in the right time in the right place'.

"In a season that's so long, then normally the best team wins the league."

    Alexis Mac Allister (Liverpool)

Has bonded the Liverpool defence and attack together brilliantly and made the massive step up from Brighton.

    Alexander Isak (Newcastle)

Has developed into a top-class striker. Am not sure about the Thierry Henry comparisons but he's been as good as any this season.

    Eberechi Eze (Crystal Palace)

A stellar end to the season capped with an FA Cup final match-winner that looked easy but few could pull off.

  20. Slot on the season: Title, Trent, transfers - and no excusespublished at 08:31 British Summer Time 23 May

Liverpool manager Arne Slot and head of rehab physiotherapy Lee Nobes celebrate winning the 2024-25 Premier League titleImage source, PA Media

BBC sports editor Dan Roan has actually already grabbed some time with Liverpool boss Arne Slot. In a wide-ranging interview conducted at the club's training ground before the champions' final match of the season, the Dutch boss spoke of:

    • his "hope" Trent Alexander-Arnold gets a "positive" send-off, after he was booed by some fans following confirmation he will leave his boyhood club next month;
    • how he will "cherish for the rest of my life" Monday's open-top bus parade through the city to celebrate winning the title;
    • disputed Arteta's argument that teams had to be in "the right place at the right time" to win the Premier League title;
    • how he was "not worried" about the uncertainty that surrounded key players Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk before they signed contract extensions;
    • taking over the job from Klopp;
    • how it would be "stupid" not to strengthen the squad this summer - though he admitted the club may not be able to bring in the targets they want.
