Airdrieonians look likely to be in the Scottish Championship relegation play-off after losing at home to Greenock Morton.

Rhys McCabe's side, bottom of the division all season, were elevated to ninth after Hamilton Academical were deducted 15 points on Thursday.

Victory here, combined with Queen's Park and Dunfermline losing, would have given them a chance of finishing eighth.

However, with their relegation rivals both drawing to move six clear with two to play, Airdrie's fate has been all-but confirmed.

It was Tomi Adeloye's first-half goal that decided this one, the striker touching Sam Murdoch long ball past goalkeeper Cade Melrose and slipping into an empty net.

Despite the win, Morton's slim promotion play-off chances are all but over.
