It does feel that the awarding of penalties is still very arbitrary.

There's power unit issues for Nico Hulkenberg. His team tried everything to get him back out after a long spell in the pits but Hulkenberg is getting out of the car and is out of the race.

The top six are yet to pit. If Max Verstappen, who is third, pits now he will come out behind Oliver Bearman. The podium is very much on for the Brit.

George Russell manages to avoid the undercut from Oscar Piastri after a quick stop and is back out in 11th, just ahead of the McLaren.

Oliver Bearman pits from third and he is back out in ninth on mediums.

That's a good stop because he could well be firmly in contention for a podium when those ahead of him make their first stops.

Lewis Hamilton is onto mediums and back out in 14th ahead of Nico Hulkenberg. He will climb higher when those ahead of him have their first stops.

It's outrageous that Lewis Hamilton is the only driver to have been penalised for leaving the track, and with such a harsh penalty to boot. This needs to be investigated.

We're approaching the window for the first stop on the softs and there's a couple of drivers into the pits. Among them is Kimi Antonelli as he goes onto mediums, but his Mercedes team-mate George Russell is staying out on softs.

Engineer: "We have 10 second penalty for the incident at turn four with Verstappen. We don't agree."

Hamilton: "The grip is so small there. The grip there is so low."

Max Verstappen has been noted now for leaving the track at Turn 3 and gaining advantage. It feels like he has left the track so many times I can't quite remember when that was, maybe as part of the first lap sequence?

Extremely harsh penalty for Lewis - seems a bit like he's being made an example of.

10 seconds for Hamilton, but nothing for the craziness at turn one.

Verstappen and Leclerc can completely cut the first corner on the first lap and get no penalty, but Lewis does?

It all started with Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton at Turn One where Verstappen took the ambitious dive down the inside.

Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton were side by side into Turn Four and Hamilton is on the outside and Verstappen is on the inside braking late.

Hamilton has to leave the track and meanwhile behind him Verstappen and George Russell got tangled up amongst themselves.

Oh, Carlos Sainz can't brake quickly enough on the fresh softs and he runs wide. He's onto the grass and moving a little gingerly as he tries to get back onto the circuit.

I’m sorry, but surely Hamilton is right to feel aggrieved here? Both Leclerc and Verstappen leaving the track and gaining advantage on lap 1, but they haven’t even been investigated.
