Down into Turn 14 Max Verstappen just locked up and went straight on, he really had to slow the car and then get out and onto the straight from Turn 14 to 15. That cost him nearly 2.5 seconds to Lando Norris.

It's such a difficult circuit, you're so focused on the driving that you can forget to press that button that then activates the drinking system.

It's important for the engineers to remind the driver to take a drink and rehydrate.

When I say rehydrate, they are not chugging back loads of water in one go, it's gentle sips each and every time.

Max Verstappen is close to the wall after a lock-up at Turn 14. It;s a close call for the four-time world champion but he lives to fight another day in second place.

Meanwhile, Fernando Alonso and rookie Isack Hadjar are battling each other for 13th spot. The more experienced racer gets the better of the young apprentice in the end but that was a good scrap from the two drivers.

This is the most gruelling race on the calendar for the drivers. They are losing three to four kilograms from perspiration alone.

The gap between George Russell and Max Verstappen is coming down. The Red Bull has taken a couple of tenths out of the Mercedes driver's lead and Russell might need to start looking in his mirrors for the oncoming threat of the four-time world champion.

We're not seeing the degradation that we've seen in previous years here in Singapore.

Everybody just seems to be status quo at the moment with regards to their tyre life and tyre management.

The McLarens pitting when they did hasn't hurt them but they haven't gained anything, so strategy for them was a case of just staying where they were.
