  2. Will Norris pit?published at 13:33 BST

    Lap 17/62

Maybe this isn't the best time to bring Lando Norris into the pits. McLaren get ready for their driver to come in, but traffic woes could be an issue, so best to stay out, Lando.

    "Box to overtake Verstappen."

  4. 'McLaren base their entire approach on fairness'published at 13:32 BST

    Andrew Benson
    BBC F1 correspondent in Singapore

McLaren have based their entire approach to race driver management on the concept of fairness this year.

When Oscar Piastri talks about fairness, he doesn't think that under the concept of the way the team run the drivers that Norris is fair or their decision not to do anything about it is fair.

How that plays out later is going to be absolutely fascinating.

Engineer: "We are currently three or four cars on the window. So think about the undercut on Max.

    Norris: "Yeah, easy."

    Lap 15/62

Gabriel Bortoleto, Yuki Tsunoda and Franco Colapinto have all come into the pits for a change of tyres: the Sauber and Red Bull switching to hards, the Alpine going to mediums.

Lando Norris is hunting down the Red Bull of world champion Verstappen and he receives some words from his engineer, Will Joseph: "Think about the undercut on Max."

  8. 'Only thing Piastri can do is run the best race he can'published at 13:29 BST

    Sam Bird
Formula E driver on Radio 5 Sports Extra

McLaren will make an internal judgement of what went on and what was fair or if it wasn't fair.

The only thing Oscar Piastri can do is run the best race he can.

Gabriel Bortoleto is in the wars after the opening lap and needs some TLC in the pits. Sauber patch up the Brazilian's car and send him back out in 20th place.

Lando Norris is on the McLaren radio. He's already pranged his front wing tonight, so is this a positive message from the Briton? Erm...

Jared: I bet you, if McLaren doesn't do anything here for Oscar's complaint, they're going to get shocked in the races to follow. Oscar is not going to take any orders that don't favour him going forward. He sounds fed up.

    Jennie Gow
    F1 pit-lane reporter in Singapore

It's still balmily hot down here, I cannot imagine what it feels like to actually be driving one of these cars.

If you started on the soft tyre you should be able to get to lap 20 before you come in and pit.

None of these runners have done any long runs because of the multiple red flags, so this is a bit of a voyage into the unknown for a lot of the teams.

  14. Postpublished at 13:25 BST

    Lap 12/62

That's not the first time Max Verstappen has complained about downshift this season, but the Dutchman, who has never won in Singapore, is still running in second place on his soft starting tyre. Charles Leclerc, meanwhile, has flagged to Ferrari his issue is with understeer.

  15. Team radio - Red Bull to Verstappenpublished at 13:23 BST

Engineer: "Any change with the downshifts, Max?"

    Verstappen: "No, it's really ****"

Fernando Alonso, who was showing some decent pace in Singapore practice, has gained a couple of places in his Aston Martin and is now in eighth spot. The gap at the front, however, is growing by each lap, and George Russell can (sort of) relax a little bit with a six-second advantage.

Anon: Can’t believe Oscar is complaining about that. Yes, it was feisty from Norris, but it’s racing, get on with it. Can’t expect your team just to let you back in front.

Nulla: Oscar sounding less cool than usual, he is getting fed up!

  18. 'This is not the time to be losing your head'published at 13:21 BST

    Sam Bird
Formula E driver on Radio 5 Sports Extra

Oscar Piastri has been so cool and calm all season, this is not the time to be losing your head over this.

You've got the car underneath you, you've got the skill set, go and use it and catch up to the back of Lando Norris and showcase why you should be the world champion this year.

Alex Albon, Pierre Gasly and Carlos Sainz haven't found a way to move up the order just yet, the trio running in 20th, 19th and 18th respectively. The other Red Bull of Yuki Tsunoda has also dropped places and is now running in 17th spot.

  20. Team radio - Norrispublished at 13:21 BST
