There is plenty still to play for, we are seeing times tumble.

Norris is struggling a lot he was starting a flying lap and it was another bang average first sector.

Lando Norris suddenly finds himself in trouble and on the bubble in P15. Lewis Hamilton saves the Mercedes and goes up to 14th spot, pushing the McLaren into trouble!

A double yellow flag is waved at Turn 12 for a slide for Nico Hulkenberg. Max Verstappen had just banked a lap, but it's now deleted, dropping him to P12.

Lewis Hamilton is still in danger in 17th place. This is where his wet-weather credentials should shine...

These conditions are so treacherous it's one thing trying to improve in them and another is that you don't want to put it into the wall if you are a front running contender.

Alex Albon moves out of the drop zone and up to seventh, but the Williams then finds himself in the path of his best mate George Russell, who is bottom on the timesheets and is now stuck in traffic. Russell has backed off - but does second fastest.

Oscar Piastri is one of the first cars out and is trying to improve on his P13 spot. Charles Leclerc is told by Ferrari that the track is still fast, with other drivers matching their previous lap times.

Piastri makes it to the line and goes fifth on the timesheets.

The track looks really really sodden right now so it's going to take a couple of laps for anything to dry.

Imagine the pressure on this, the rain is coming down, Norris is sitting tenth, Piastri is sitting 13th, this was the dominant team of the weekend so far but McLaren are not out of the woods of this session either.

Norris cannot switch off during this session and there is the threat that at any time the grid could be set.

Yuki Tsunoda's fastest time is 1:29.172 on the wet tyres. The intermediate experiment has ended for Sauber.

The rain is looking like it's starting to come down a little harder than it was when Q1 got underway.

Yuki Tusnoda, Charles Leclerc and Esteban Ocon are the three quickest drivers in the wet so far. Both Mercedes drivers, meanwhile, are stuck in the danger zone.

While the marshals come to the aid of Franco Colapinto's Williams, the rain is still falling at Interlagos. The rest of the grid are beginning to queue up at the end of the pit lane, desperate to get out and put a lap down before the conditions worsen.

I think Leclerc did [get the time] by about a second, it was right on the edge, you could see Leclerc coming over the line and he was in the drop zone.

That was super tight for Leclerc, I am not convinced he did get that time in before the red flag. It's really touch and go and it's hard to be sure whether the television pictures are absolutely in sync with the timing screens, but it was right on the edge.

Looks like Franco Colapinto dipped a rear wheel where there was no grip, sending the rear of his Williams spinning into the barriers at Turn Three. The Argentine says sorry to his team, but he id OK.
