Michael Hoey lies two over par at Hassan Trophy in Morocco

Michael Hoey birdied the 18th hole to lie two over par after the first round of the Hassan Trophy in Morocco.

The Belfast player posted two birdies, two bogeys and a double bogey in his round and is currently 10 shots behind leader, German Marcel Siem.

Ballyclare's Gareth Maybin continued his recent poor form with a seven-over-par 79 which included a birdie, four bogeys and two double bogeys.

David Higgins is best of the Irish contingent on one over.

Peter Lawrie lies three over and Damien McGrane eight over.
