Masters 2015: Marc Warren misses out in top-50 bid

Marc Warren has narrowly missed out on qualifying for the Masters.

The 33-year-old Scot has moved up one place to 51st in Monday's latest world golf rankings, but only the top 50 receive invites to Augusta National.

Warren finished equal 35th at the Texas Open on Sunday, but that was not enough to gather sufficient points.

It means that there will be only three Scots at the Masters - 1988 champion Sandy Lyle, Stephen Gallacher and Bradley Neil.

Gallacher has dropped one place to 39 in the rankings but remains the only Scot in the current world top 50.

Veteran Lyle gains his invitation as a past champion, while 19-year-old Neil won last year's Amateur Championship.

Warren needed to finish ahead of Brendan Todd in San Antonio to join them but closed with a 70 to finish 35th, one stroke behind the American as Jimmy Walker won his home town event.

American Harris English, who started the day as 53rd, needed at least a top 10, but his final-round 72 only got him to 30th.

Meanwhile, Tiger Woods has dropped out of the world's top 100 for the first time since 1996.

The 39-year-old American has struggled to return to the form that led to him spending a record 683 weeks as world number one and is now ranked 104.
