On whether Shane Lowry was put off by who was going to go first, him or Justin Rose at the seventh and eighth:

It definitely seemed like that. I was really surprised that one of them didn’t give the other a signal.

Shane seemed to be going and then not going and then he went and hit a poor putt by his standard but I was very impressed with how Dan Brown putted.

  3. Watch: Happier times when Lowry birdied fourpublished at 17:46 British Summer Time 20 July

    Lowry -6 (8)

Shane Lowry was three shots to the good when this birdie putt dropped on the fourth hole.

Now he's in a share of the lead after falling foul of the iconic eighth.

  4. Double bogey for Lowrypublished at 17:45 British Summer Time 20 July

    Brown -6, Lowry -6 (8)

Nope, Shane Lowry has missed his putt and it's a penal double bogey for the leader.

Dan Brown makes bogey too and it's a dismal walk off the eighth green for this pair.

    Suddenly, that leaderboard looks congested.

    Day -1 (9)

It's been an up-and-down round for Jason Day as he completes the front nine in an even-par 36. He made two bogeys early on but found birdies at the fourth and eighth to get back on track.

The Aussie is hanging in there.

    An update on this pair.

Xander Schauffele found his ball in the gorse and is able just to wedge it out and stay on the fairway.

However, Patrick Cantlay’s ball has been swallowed up so he’s taken a drop.

    Brown -7, Lowry -8 (7)

Shane Lowry isn’t messing around behind the eighth green as he strides over to his ball, clips it onto the green and leaves himself six feet for bogey.

Dan Brown has missed from 18 feet for par so he’s dropping at least a shot.

Lowry needs to limit the damage here.

    Brown -7, Lowry -8 (7)

It's not ideal at all for Shane Lowry as his effort takes a hop off the wall of the bunker and spins away beyond the back of the green.

Is the Postage Stamp about to claim its most high profile victim?

Well, that’s not what the fans wanted on eight. Two balls in the Coffin and the cheers for Lowry and Brown are muted.

Plenty of discussion for Shane Lowry and a rules official at the eighth after Dan Brown splashes his ball out of the sand.

He's trying to recreate the lie it had previously because the sand was naturally disturbed by Brown.

After using a tee to mark his ball, he's having the Coffin bunker restored to its previous state before he goes in for his shot.

Justin Rose and Billy Horschel both have to settle for par at the postage stamp as their putts come up short.

While Dan Brown and Shane Lowry are playing around in the sand, three holes further ahead both Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay are wading in the gorse bushes down the fearsome 11th.

Both smashed their drives into it and the search parties are out in force.

To be honest, Dan Brown would probably have preferred to land his tee shot on the eighth where he put his tee shot from the seventh.

Instead, he's just plonked it straight into the infamous Coffin bunker.

A chance for Shane Lowry to capitalise? No! He's dunked his attempt next door to Brown's.

Maybe they need some timely advice from Ken?

Si Woo Kim gets first ace of the 152nd Open

The longest hole-in-one in Open history.

Si Woo Kim told Sky Sports earlier that he would buy everyone in his team fish and chips to celebrate.

He also chatted to BBC Radio 5 Live's Andy Stevenson:

"My caddie told me 'you'd better hit a three iron as hard as you can'. I did and I just saw the over the fringe and thought 'I'll take it'.

"Then as soon as I teed off the ground I heard people yelling at me. I didn't realise it had gone in.

"I didn't know how to celebrate and it was exciting - a memorable hole-in-one for me."

    Rahm +2 (13)

Jon Rahm makes a scrambling par on 13 just after dropping a shot with his second bogey of the day on 12. He's played pretty well but the putts just haven't dropped and now his approach play has just started to wobble.

  16. Birdie for Brown as Lowry misses chancepublished at 17:31 British Summer Time 20 July

    Brown -7, Lowry -8 (7)

That grin freezes on Shane Lowry's face somewhat as he knocks it birdie putt past the flag. Chance gone.

Dan Brown profits however and suddenly he's only one back.

Perhaps the most creative birdie we've seen all week.

    Scheffler -3, Burmester -2 (8)

Despite being almost attacked by Daniel Brown's errant drive, Dean Burmester keeps his composure to knock in his birdie putt at the Postage Stamp.

A two here is always something to celebrate.

    Brown -6, Lowry -8 (6)

    Andrew Murray

I don’t know how Dan Brown managed to judge that because he was 50 yards right of the fairway. And then for Lowry to follow him in. Absolutely sensational stuff.

Oh boy, maybe that's the way to play it!

Stunning from Dan Brown as he lofts it on to the green and kills it stone dead four feet from the pin.

He gets an acknowledging grin from Billy Horschel's caddie as they cross paths.

As for Shane Lowry? He's waited a long time but matches Brown's brilliance and allows a wide grin of his own to cross his face.

Justin Rose responds to the encouragement with a glorious tee shot at the Postage Stamp leaves him with a good chance for birdie despite a bit of draw back.
