  1. Horschel bogeypublished at 18:33 British Summer Time 20 July

    Horschel -5 (11)

It's been a superb round from Billy Horschel but having got a share of the lead he bogeys the 11th after a couple of wayward shots.

The first blot on his copybook.

  2. Bogey for Lowrypublished at 18:32 British Summer Time 20 July

    Brown -5, Lowry -5 (11)

Excellent par save from Dan Brown who has navigated the 11th with real guts. He's not going anywhere.

Shane Lowry gives his par putt some heat but perhaps too much as it motors six feet past the hole.

He has to sink it to limit the damage to bogey - and he does. A little fist pump.

  3. 'Guys are starting to go in the wrong direction'published at 18:30 British Summer Time 20 July

    Schauffele -4 (14)

    Dan Rapaport
American golf journalist on BBC Radio 5 Live

That is about the fourth putt Xander has missed that I feel he had a really good chance of making but I’m looking at the leaderboard and guys are starting to go in the wrong direction.

Everyone is moving backwards and six under could well be leading this championship by day’s end.

  4. Postpublished at 18:29 British Summer Time 20 July

    Scheffler -3, Burmester -2 (12)

Another green found in regulation by Scottie Scheffler at 12 but it's much too far away to be judged a birdie chance as such, more a lag putting exercise - although Scheffler comes pretty close to holing it he settles for a par four.

  5. Postpublished at 18:28 British Summer Time 20 July

    Brown -5, Lowry -6 (10)

Shane Lowry knows immediately he's not given that enough.

He's got it on the green but weighing up 41 feet to make par at the 11th.

  6. Schauffele misses another birdie chancepublished at 18:27 British Summer Time 20 July

    Cantlay +3, Schauffele -4 (14)

That putt looked good all the way for Xander Schauffele - until it didn't at the last.

A devious turn of his ball and he's forced to settle for par.

  7. Postpublished at 18:25 British Summer Time 20 July

    Brown -5, Lowry -6 (10)

Urgh that didn't sound great off Shane Lowry's club at the 11th.

It's squeaked out right and clunks off the shoe of a waterproofed punter down the left hand side.

Up and down from 60 yards to save par.

  8. Postpublished at 18:24 British Summer Time 20 July

    Cantlay +3, Schauffele -4 (13)

Xander Schauffele's made a name for metronomic consistency and his tee shot at the par-three 14th is yet another example.

Beautiful sound, a couple of bounces and less than 10 feet for birdie.

Sink that and he's one off the lead.

  9. Horschel drops backpublished at 18:23 British Summer Time 20 July

    Horschel -5 (11)

Billy Horschel peeled off the layers on the approach to 11th. Down to a shirt and nothing else. Brave man in this weather.

He's chuntering to himself on the green, though, after a par save misses.

  10. Postpublished at 18:20 British Summer Time 20 July

    Brown -5, Lowry -6 (10)

We've seen plenty of issues off the tee at 11.

No bother for Shane Lowry who flings his straight over the trouble and onto the fairway.

Dan Brown is also nice and safe, if a little further back.

  11. Watch: Horschel moves into contentionpublished at 18:19 British Summer Time 20 July

    Horschel -6 (10)

Billy Horschel has quietly moved his way up the leaderboard and is now in a share of the lead.

  13. Schauffele par at 13published at 18:17 British Summer Time 20 July

    Cantlay +3, Schauffele -4 (13)

Fully 70 feet for Xander Schauffele but he drills it as close to the hole as if he'd gone up and dropped his ball next to it. A fine par.

It's been a tough six holes for Patrick Cantlay - four shots dropped.

  14. Jordan trying to get involvedpublished at 18:15 British Summer Time 20 July

    Jordan -1 (13)

Matthew Jordan, who played so well last year in The Open that was held on his home course Royal Liverpool, is trying to play his way into contention here but is just wobbling now.

He's gone bogey-birdie-bogey with a missed six-footer on 13 seeing him drop his second shot of the day - and on 14 he's missed the green on the par three so has a tricky shot from the rough coming up.

  15. Postpublished at 18:14 British Summer Time 20 July

Did we mention it is raining?

It's utterly hosing down here but in a cap update, Billy Horschel has swivelled his round again.

    I can't keep up.

  16. Bogey for Brown, par for Lowrypublished at 18:14 British Summer Time 20 July

A backwards move from Dan Brown at the 10th as two trips into the rough cost him a shot.

Shane Lowry can't quite find the birdie his second shot deserved but stays in a two-way tie for the lead before the ominous 11th.

  17. Postpublished at 18:12 British Summer Time 20 July

    Cantlay +2, Schauffele -4 (12)

After losing a ball at the 13th, Patrick Cantlay has found this one at embedded in the thick grass.

He chunks it out but not far enough and there'll be more grass to contend with further up the hole.

Xander Schauffele finds the green with his second shot, but he's way back.

  18. Scheffler stinging in the rainpublished at 18:11 British Summer Time 20 July

    Scheffler -3, Burmester -2 (11)

Scottie Scheffler is miles back on the 11th fairway and to try and stay out of trouble he pulls out the long iron stinger, which goes only about 30 feet in the air and rumbles along to just creep onto the green.

he two putts from there for a par but that superb piece of skill was the highlight.

  19. Postpublished at 18:10 British Summer Time 20 July

    Horschel -6, Rose -4 (10)

Billy Horschel calmly putted for par at the 10th and half smiled as he raised his ball to the crowd.

The American is grumbling on the tee at the 11th moments later, though, after a tee shot into the rough towards some gorse bushes.

Playing partner Justin Rose hits the fairway.

  20. Postpublished at 18:10 British Summer Time 20 July

    Brown -6, Lowry -6 (9)

Oh yes Shane Lowry - that's the iron play we've come to expect.

His ball is shoved up against some grass but has a decent bit of fortune as he attacks the flag. He's earned that too as his best bounce of the day sends his ball within 10 feet.

    Outstanding.
