  1. Horschel's backwards cappublished at 18:08 British Summer Time 20 July

    Horschel -6 (10)

He's the only player wearing his cap backwards but Billy Horschel is pulling it off nicely.

    What do we reckon?

Good move in the weather, or a 90s fashion statement that has no place in modern society?

    Thumbs up if you're keen.

  2. 'Schauffele is giving himself chances'published at 18:04 British Summer Time 20 July

    Schauffele -4 (12)

    Dan Rapaport
American golf journalist on BBC Radio 5 Live

Xander has had a few of those (missed opportunities). He’s giving himself so many chances.

He’ll be reassured by his ball striking, but he hasn’t putted as well as he would have liked.

    Brown -6, Lowry -6 (9)

A grimace from Shane Lowry as his drive at the 10th hooks left and finds its way into the rough out there.

Dan Brown goes the other way and he'll have his own long grass to contend with - provided he can find his ball.

No sooner had we mentioned Dustin Johnson's run of 13 straight pars (see 17:56 BST), he holes from just off the green on the par-three 14th and has his first birdie of the day.

  5. Schauffele misses birdie puttpublished at 18:03 British Summer Time 20 July

    Cantlay +2, Schauffele -4 (12)

Slightly pulled from Xander Schauffele with the putter and for once it doesn't drop.

    A great chance goes begging.

  6. Bogey for Burmesterpublished at 18:01 British Summer Time 20 July

    Scheffler -3, Burmester -2 (10)

Dean Burmester now has a case of the horseshoes as his par putt on 10 catches a big piece of the right half of the hole but circles around and out, costing him a shot.

Scottie Scheffler misses his first green of the day but manages to get up and down - funnily enough with his joint longest putt of the day at 5ft 7in.

    Horschel -6 (9)

Billy Horschel with a 178-yard iron to the pin at the 10th, but he misses the green. A tough back nine will determine whether a good round will turn out to be a great one for the American.

    Cantlay +2, Schauffele -4 (11)

Xander Schauffele's just thrown another of his darts at the 12th green and spun it to 10 feet. Terrific shot.

Here's the pearl he produced at eight.

  10. Pars for Lowry and Brownpublished at 17:58 British Summer Time 20 July

    Brown -6, Lowry -6 (9)

Almost a perfect response from Shane Lowry after reaching the green in two and setting up a birdie chance.

Taking aim from 19 feet, it looks good but shaves the hole and stays afloat.

Par too for Dan Brown as they clear their heads from the carnage at eight.

    Lawrence -3 (65)

In much better conditions earlier, Thriston Lawrence equalled the best round the week with a six-under 65:

"Definitely [the calm conditions early on] helped. I had an aggressive game plan for the whole week and these conditions on the front nine gave me the confidence to execute it.

"I was hitting the driver amazing and I was putting well as well. Six birdies on the front nine - very happy with that."

Was the back nine just as satisfying not to drop all those shots? "Definitely. I feel like I made six birdies on the back nine as well.

"Starting from 13, into the wind and into the rain, it's not easy. A lot of back flags and when it’s wet you can’t run it up like we could on the front nine.

"Very satisfying that I kept the momentum and hopefully I carry that on tomorrow."

  14. Henley shares clubhouse leadpublished at 17:54 British Summer Time 20 July

    Henley -3 (66)

A 66 for Russell Henley and he's alongside a group of players at three under par - which is good enough for a tie for sixth at the moment.

  15. An American clean sweep?published at 17:53 British Summer Time 20 July

    Horschel -6 (9)

Billy Horschel is now into a share of the lead - is he set to win his first major, and join the list of American major winners in 2024?

1982 was the last time that the four majors were won by US golfers.

  17. 'Horschel looks cool as a cucumber'published at 17:52 British Summer Time 20 July

    Horschel -6 (9)

Absolutely amazing. Fantastic golf from Billy Horschel.

He looks cool as a cucumber, absolutely first class.

Billy Horschel is right up there at the top of the leaderboard after birdie at the ninth gives him his fourth of the round thus far.

Can Justin Rose keep pace with his playing partner?

  19. Bogey for Schauffele, double for Cantlaypublished at 17:49 British Summer Time 20 July

    Cantlay +2, Schauffele -4 (11)

The 11th hole is even more notorious than the eighth and it's done some damage to this duo's scorecards.

Having lost his ball, Patrick Cantlay ends up with a double bogey and perhaps falling too far back to challenge.

Xander Schauffele manages to stem the bleeding to just a bogey.

  20. Putting problems for Schefflerpublished at 17:48 British Summer Time 20 July

    Scheffler -3, Burmester -2 (9)

    The OpenImage source, Getty Images

A burnt edge for Scottie Scheffler from eight feet means he can't end his front nine with a birdie so he turns in one under. He's also missed a seven-foot birdie putt today as well so the flat stick problems of old are just creeping back into his game.

After his front nine Scheffler is currently ranked 70th in putting - there's only 80 players in the field - so that tells you the story...
