There is plenty of support out there today for Bryson DeChambeau and they've seen much better golf then yesterday's spectators. As I said earlier, it couldn't really have got any worse!

At the minute, the projected cut is +2 or better and after back-to-back birdies it's looking like the two-time US Open champion might just be sticking around for the weekend!

  2. Birdie finish for clubhouse leaderpublished at 13:49 British Summer Time

    Bezuidenhout -2, R. Hojgaard -5 (F)

A tip of the cap from Rasmus Hojgaard as he just about manages to knock in a 30-footer on the final green to seal a fine round of 68 and set the pace in the clubhouse on five under par.

He's currently T4 on the leaderboard but that will do just nicely for the Dane, who knows how to get the job done in these conditions as he won the Irish Open at the stunning Royal County Down last year.

So watch out for him over the weekend.

One of today's live texters is also getting married this summer and didn't realise that their honeymoon is booked for the same weekend as the Ryder Cup...

    A terrible error.

It's their big day next Friday but everything is under control and they're able to enjoy their day at the golf.

They're so ready, Linsey even has a personalised Open hat prepared with her initials to be.

Many congratulations and best of luck for your big day!

  5. English moves into secondpublished at 13:42 British Summer Time

    English -6 (11)

The 11th hole has been the hardest so far in this tournament but not for America's Harris English.

That's a magnificent wedge from the middle of the fairway that rolls round and comes up just four feet from the cup.

Right in the heart of the hole.

He closes the gap on Brian Harman.

  6. Harman stays in frontpublished at 13:42 British Summer Time

    Harman -7 (15)

Brian Harman putts up the hill from the front of the green and judges it perfectly.

    Stone dead for par.

  7. Bogey for Hattonpublished at 13:42 British Summer Time

    Hatton -5 (14)

More muttering and chuntering from Tyrrell Hatton as he stalks off the 14th green with a bogey.

He was a little aggressive with his third up the hill from short of the green and that left him too much to do with the par putt. It's only his second dropped shot of the day though.

Hatton back two off the lead.

  8. 'DeChambeau giving himself a run to make this cut'published at 13:41 British Summer Time

    DeChambeau +3 (13)

    Catriona Matthew
Captain of Team Europe at the 2019 & 2021 Solheim Cup on BBC Radio 5 Live

Bryson DeChambeau is giving himself a real run to make this cut. He’s going to be determined, he’s going to want to make it.

He’s never done well in this championship yet so he’s going to want to do two more rounds and you just never know.

  9. Westwood opens with parpublished at 13:40 British Summer Time

    Detry +1, Gotterup +1, Westwood -2 (1)

Lee Westwood's second round is up and running with par on the first.

Westwood gets to the green in two strokes but an opening birdie proves just beyond him.

  10. Last holepublished at 13:40 British Summer Time

    Bezuidenhout -2, R. Hojgaard -4 (17)

Not the round Christiaan Bezuidenhout would've wanted as he's two over for the day as he tees off down 18, but Rasmus Hojgaard is two under, four under for the championship, and has been knocking about at the top of the leaderboard so will be keen to try and pinch another shot at the last.

As Darren Clarke told us though, it's not that easy...

  11. Birdies all roundpublished at 13:39 British Summer Time

    DeChambeau +3, MacIntyre -5, Rose -1 (13)

These three get the birdies their trio of tee shots deserved. Great play.

Justin Rose back into red numbers. Bryson DeChambeau still in with a chance of making the cut. And Bob MacIntyre now just two shots off the lead...

  12. Postpublished at 13:38 British Summer Time

    Harman -7 (14)

"Oh you dirty dog..." screams Brian Harman as his approach to the 15th green lands just short and dribbles off the front of the green.

  13. Pinpoint accuracypublished at 13:36 British Summer Time

    DeChambeau +4, MacIntyre -4, Rose E (12)

These three are having a "closest to the pin" competition on the par-three 13th, it seems.

Bryson DeChambeau is about six feet away and he's the furthest away of the trio! Ridiculous golf.

Justin Rose and Bob MacIntyre are both within four feet.

Must be three birdies incoming, surely?

  14. Postpublished at 13:35 British Summer Time

    Fleetwood -2, McIlroy -1, Thomas E (11)

    Jonathan Bradley
    BBC Sport NI senior journalist

For those watching out for pace of play after yesterday's near six-hour rounds, Rory McIlroy, Tommy Fleetwood and Justin Thomas have reached the 12th tee in shy of three and a half hours.

They were four hours in at this point yesterday.

  15. 'McIlroy just taking it in'published at 13:35 British Summer Time

    McIlroy -1 (11)

    Andrew Murray
Former European Tour winner on 5 Live

McIlroy will be just taking it in, You can’t be on it all the time.

You’ve got to just switch off sometimes or have a chat with your caddy, or engage with the crowd or whatever is your thing.

  16. Another parpublished at 13:34 British Summer Time

    Fleetwood -2, McIlroy -1, Thomas E (11)

A par for Rory McIlroy on 11, which is a good score today as it's the hardest hole on the course again today playing a third of a stroke over par.

A missed fair to the left was more bad news though, and that driver's seriously holding him back here. There's a score to be had now as the sun pokes out around Portrush.

  17. US Ryder Cup captain Bradley in contentionpublished at 13:33 British Summer Time

    Bradley -3 (67)

US Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley has put together a heck of a second round today - an eagle on the second, birdies on the 12th and 15th, pars for the rest.

He just missed a 15-footer for a birdie on the last, but he'll walk off to sign for a bogey-free round of 67.

Bradley failed to make the cut in each of the past five Opens but he'll being doing that and a whole lot more at Portrush this week.

And those calls for him to be playing for the US at Bethpage in September will be getting louder...

  18. Hojgaard accepts parpublished at 13:31 British Summer Time

    Bezuidenhout -2, R. Hojgaard -4, Langasque -2 (17)

Rasmus Hojgaard takes bold approach to 40ft putt on the 17th in search of a birdie, but ultimately comes up short. Rather glumly he settles for par.

Playing partner Romain Langasque has a mini fist pump after he rolls in a birdie putt to go back to two under.

  19. Birdie for Bobpublished at 13:28 British Summer Time

    DeChambeau +4, MacIntyre -4, Rose E (12)

A lovely third shot from beside the green helps Bob MacIntyre to a birdie four on the par-five 12th. He's up to four under for the tournament now, three behind leader Brian Harman.

Bryson DeChambeau also makes birdie to keep his hopes of reaching the weekend alive.

Justin Rose has a 15-footer to repair a little bit of the damage from his triple bogey on the previous hole, but that one slides by the left edge.

  20. 'Pins moved to increase difficulty'published at 13:26 British Summer Time

These guys eat the holes up, that's why they've moved the pins.

They don't want somebody to run away and shoot 18 or 19 under like we see on the DP Tour.
