Five weeks ago, we watched the 2013 Masters champ Adam Scott make a real move to win the US Open in miserable conditions at Oakmont.
The popular Australian will not be sticking around this weekend though.
An ugly +8 round Portrush today means he has dropped from one over par after the first day to nine over right now.

No dramas on the 11th for Tyrrell Hatton who pings his drive down the middle of the fairway and then finds the heart of the green with his second.
The pin is back left so he's got a 30-footer for birdie coming up.

Ludvig Aberg has holed some long putts today and here's another, from about 30 feet to make birdie on the ninth.
He's out in 32 and only four shots off the lead now.
That's more than 101 feet's worth of putts holed by Aberg in his round so far today.

Rory McIlroy scratches his nose after missing a chance to putt for birdie on the eighth. It was about a 15-footer but the ball just curls away from the hole at the crucial moment.
Tommy Fleetwood's body language is definitely more upbeat than the Northern Irishman compared to yesterday. Fleetwood does not quite generate enough power but is not too hard on himself when he picks up the ball and moves on.

Co-leader Brian Harman is short and right of the 11th green but a well-played chip leaves him five feet for par.
Anyone who watched him win at Hoylake a couple of years ago will know he rarely misses from that range. And he doesn't miss here either.

The radar slightly off for Tyrrell Hatton on the 10th, who is pin-high but on the fringe of the green, 10 yards to the left.
A chip and a tap-in par follows and he heads to the 11th, which played the hardest hole on the course yesterday.

Having come prepared for another day of wind and rain the sunshine was a pleasant surprise! At the minute it's quite warm out on the course.
That said there's a few pretty angry looking grey clouds on the horizon.
It's been a rotation between full waterproof gear and suncream this week. Northern Irish weather, you just have to love it!

Robert MacIntyre leaves his from 25 feet just short but it's a comfortable par. The Scot is out in 33 with no bogeys on the card.
Justin Rose, in a lovely pale pink polo shirt, tries from 20 feet up the hill - in it goes! He joins Bob at three under for the tournament, three behind the leaders.
Bryson DeChambeau drains his birdie putt too! He's three under for the front nine and four over par overall. He needed something magical today to make the weekend and, you know what, he might just do it...

I was given Jacob Skov Olesen to cover.
Think I can hang up my keyboard and go home.
Way left with his first shot, he took a drop and hit another, this time going way right.
Another drop later he finally got to the first green but it's a most untimely eight - a snowman - on the card for the overnight co-leader.
It plummets him from four under to level par.
And totally off our radar.

For him, he seems relatively happy with his round and he's in good shape right now.

Will Tyrrell Hatton back it up on the par-four 10th... Himalaya... his drive is leaked a little out wide but with only 123 yards to the pin he should be able to nudge his second onto the green.
The Englishman is no stranger to success on links-style courses. He is the only player to win the DP World Tour’s Alfred Dunhill Links three times, doing so in 2016, 2017 and again last year.
He ranked in the top-20 in the field on Thursday for strokes gained off the tee, approach and putting.
