Summary

  1. Postpublished at 22:36 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March

    Bhatia -10, Walker -9 (17)

Aggressive tee shot on 17 from Akshay Bhatia, going right at the flag as he tends to do quite a lot, but it almost backfires as the ball spins towards the water and only saved by the collar of rough.

It's a birdie chance though but he can't quite convert it and he heads to the final tee on 10 under and needing a birdie to put some pressure on.

  2. Just a parpublished at 22:34 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March

    McIlroy -12 (16)

And indeed Rory McIlroy has left himself with too much to do to grab a birdie on 16 so he misses a great chance on the easiest hole on the course to increase his lead.

He still is only one in front with the 17th coming up, and JJ Spaun behind him looking to birdie 16.

He's had really good chances on 15 and 16 to put this to bed and he's not done it.

Rory's dropped his club in disgust. It was a pretty straightforward shot that he would have been looking to get inside five feet. It's a pretty straightforward putt though.

  5. Postpublished at 22:33 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March

    McIlroy -12 (15)

Rory McIlroy plays his chip shot a bit better than Danny Walker did a few moments ago but still leaves it well short and only an outside birdie chance coming up.

  6. Par for Spaun at 15published at 22:33 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March

    Spaun -11 (15)

A little shake of the head from JJ Spaun as he watches his birdie putt dribble past the hole at 15.

It'll be a tidy par though and he maintains the pressure on Rory McIlroy.

It was a very good result for Rory. If you're going to miss the green to the left, you need to catch that bit of short grass. He can wedge this and get some spin on it.

  8. Postpublished at 22:27 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March

    McIlroy -12 (15)

Rory McIlroy absolutely hammers probably a six iron out of the rough from 210 yards, he's aiming well left though - as he should with all the water down the right - and ends up in a run-off area left of the green.

He's got plenty of green to work with as he looks to get down in two from there for a birdie.

  9. Another miss for Bhatiapublished at 22:24 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March

    Bhatia -10, Walker -9 (16)

Akshay Bhatia has struggled with the long putter of his up to now, and again he's off target with his birdie try on 16 so just a par three after a three-putt and he's fuming.

Rory McIlroy still waiting back down the hole from the rough so looks like he's having a crack at this green - stand by everyone!

  10. Postpublished at 22:22 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March

McIlroy is waiting on the 16th, which suggests he's going for the green with his second shot.

  11. Lay up?published at 22:21 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March

    McIlroy -12 (15)

Again the driver isn't playing nice for Rory McIlroy, who looks to play a huge high slinging draw but it doesn't move like he wants and he ends up in the right rough.

So does he go for the green in two here or lay up?

  12. Postpublished at 22:19 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March

    Bhatia -10, Walker -9 (15)

Danny Walker is making a bit of a mess of the 16th, tugging his second shot into some juicy rough by the green, then not really committing to the chip and coming up miles short.

It doesn't look like birdie territory to me...

Fans always gravitate towards Rory McIlroy. Remember when fans used to just go and watch these great players in action though? Instead of pointing their phones at them...

  14. Bogey to finishpublished at 22:16 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March

    MacIntyre -8 (69)

Bob MacIntyre's chip on from the rough short of the 18th pulls up a good 15 feet short. He's not going to be sitting pretty in the clubhouse.

The putt is on the way, it starts left, stays left. Takes a look into the hole but refuses to drop. Dropped shots to finish are never nice but this has still been a terrific day and week for the Scot.

  15. Postpublished at 22:14 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March

    Spaun -11 (14)

Right then, can JJ Spaun capitalise on Rory McIlroy's little stumble?

He's in a perfect position off the tee and takes aim at the 15th flag but he's a touch short and doesn't get the kick down to the pin.

That'll be 29-and-a-half feet away for birdie.

  16. Postpublished at 22:12 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March

How many times do we see Rory McIlroy, deep into the back nine miss a straightforward putt? There was no big break in that. He's got the par-five 16th coming up to make amends.

  17. Missed chance!published at 22:11 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March

    McIlroy -12 (15)

Ouch! Rory McIlroy played that hole perfectly and really deserved a birdie, but he just nudges his putt from just five feet down the wrong line and it stays up.

Big, big chance missed there to go back to two in front, and the lead stays at one....

  18. Postpublished at 22:09 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March

    MacIntyre -9 (17)

Bob MacIntyre is not holding back with his second from the pine straw down the right of the 18th fairway. He squirts a low hooky one under the trees but he gets too much action on his ball and it scuds into the cabbage short of the green.

He's going to come up just short of joining Tom Hoge in the clubhouse lead... unless he can produce some magic.

  19. Postpublished at 22:09 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March

    Bhatia -10, Walker -9 (15)

This pair both hit the fairway off the tee on the par-five 16th, which is still the easiest hole on the course and with now the wind subsiding and the course a lot softer it's a green light birdie hole.

And they both need one here too.

  20. Postpublished at 22:08 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March

    McIlroy -12 (14)

This was Rory McIlroy just moments after stepping back onto the course following the four hour delay.

The gap has closed back though now...
