Here's Keegan Bradley on the fourth, analysing a 16-footer for birdie. Never in doubt. The US Ryder Cup skipper is off to a solid start.

His playing partner Russell Henley drops in a three-footer for par.

Scotland's Bob MacIntyre has knocked in a five footer at the driveable par-four eighth to make a fourth birdie of the day.

He is now six shots behind leader Tommy Fleetwood.

Oban's finest needs a few more if he is to move into contention.

Much has been written over the past few months about Keegan Bradley and the will he, won't he, debate surrounding whether he takes on the role as playing captain at next month's Ryder Cup.

The US skipper came close to securing an automatic spot on the 12-strong team to face Europe at Bethpage Black in New York from 26-28 September.

At least that would have settled the issue. He's clearly a man in form though - having eclipsed Tommy Fleetwood to win the Travelers Championship in June - and comes into Sunday on the back of rounds of 64 and 63. If he shoots low again he could even win this and then what does he do?

Bradley has already called it "the decision of his life" - but he's going to have to shelve those thoughts for at least four hours today as he tries to win the biggest title of his career since winning the 2011 US PGA Championship.

Keegan Bradley always looks like he's playing with a toothpick, such is his stance and seemingly small clubs.

He's firing into the par-four fourth from 162 yards and goes flag hunting to set up a presentable birdie chance.

    Hovland -10 (12)

There are plenty of birdies to be had out there today. Just ask Viktor Hovland, who is giving European Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald a timely reminder of his quality.

The Norwegian has just rattled in his sixth birdie of the day, on the 12th hole, and he's on a bogey-free run that has seen him climb to 10 under.

He missed out on automatic qualification. An absolute cert for Donald though you'd imagine?

Ludvig Aberg, Matt Fitzpatrick, Viktor Hovland, Shane Lowry, Sepp Straka and Jon Rahm are the six players from Europe's triumphant team in Rome that haven't qualified automatically this time around.

Should any of those miss out for you? If so, who do you think should be picked instead by captain Luke Donald?

Harry Hall? Marco Penge? Aaron Rai? Kristoffer Reitan? AN Other?

    Fleetwood -17, Cantlay -13 (2)

A torrid start for Patrick Cantlay, who four-putts at the second to make double bogey.

No such worries for Tommy Fleetwood, who rolls in a 19ft putt for a magnificent birdie on a tricky par three.

A first move of the day by Russell Henley who rolls in a short-range birdie putt on the third to stay within two of the lead.

Keegan Bradley is continuing on the par train for now.

  10. Fleetwood into solo lead as Cantlay stumblespublished at 19:08 British Summer Time 24 August

    Fleetwood -16, Cantlay -15 (1)

A very tidy par for Tommy Fleetwood at the first is a welcome nerve-settler for the Englishman.

His playing partner Patrick Cantlay finds trouble right off the tee, has to lay up and only makes bogey.

    The lead is one.

Rasmus Hojgaard secured his place on Europe's Ryder Cup team with a T-13 finish at the British Masters

An emotional Rasmus Hojgaard claimed the last automatic spot on Europe's Ryder Cup team earlier today with a battling final round at the Betfred British Masters, as Sweden's Alex Noren claimed the title.

Needing a top-29 finish to move into sixth on the ranking list, above Ireland's Shane Lowry, Hojgaard carded a one-under 71 to finish on eight under par and joint 13th.

"I've been so stressed out on the course and I was telling my caddie I don't know how I'm going to be able to do this," said Hojgaard of his final round the Belfry.

    "I'm over the moon."

It's not all just about the two in the final group though.

Russell Henley, who was joint halfway leader with Tommy Fleetwood, started just two back and has made par at the first two holes. He also has form in come-from-behind wins.

Three of his five PGA Tour victories have come in this manner, including winning the Arnold Palmer Invitational earlier this season.

  15. Cantlay may make late movepublished at 18:51 British Summer Time 24 August

    Cantlay -16

With the past seven winners of the Tour Championship coming from the final pairing, then what of Patrick Cantlay's chances?

The American, who claimed this title in 2021, is seeking a ninth PGA Tour triumph, but first since 2022.

His form has been patchy over the past couple of years. He was ranked fifth in the world as he headed to the 2023 Ryder Cup in Rome, but is now down at 23 and reliant on a captain's pick if he is to make this year's team.

He missed the cut in the final three majors of the season but he clearly loves the FedEx Cup play-off events with three of his past four victories having come in these tournaments (2022 BMW Championship, 2021 Tour Championship and 2021 BMW Championship).

And even if he starts slowly today, don't count him out. Cantlay has played the back in 12 under par this week, three strokes better than the next best (Russell Henley) and is a combined nine under par on holes 16-18.

Victory for the American would see him join Tiger Woods (2007 and 2009) and Rory McIlroy (2016, 2019 and 2022) as a multiple champion.

Scheffler missed several short putts during round three

Scottie Scheffler angrily slammed his putter against bag after missing an eight-foot birdie putt on the 16th hole in round three. It was at least a third miss from eminently makeable range by the world number one and his frustrations were clear to see.

But Scheffler, who has won two majors among five titles this year, is still right in this despite an opening bogey today.

Yesterday's four-under 66 was his 20th consecutive round in the 60s, one shy of Patrick Cantlay's record.

And last week, he won the BMW Championship after overturning a four-stroke deficit in the final round... should he replicate that today, he'd be the first player since 1983 to win successive tournaments from four back.

He is, of course, the defending champion and seeking to become the first player to win successive titles.

Hit the thumbs - up for a Scheffler comeback win.

  18. Fleetwood statspublished at 18:44 British Summer Time 24 August

    • Seeking his maiden PGA Tour victory in his 164th career start. He entered the week ranked fifth in the FedEx Cup standings, the highest-ranked player without a win this season
    • Would become the first player in the FedEx Cup era (since 2007) to claim his first career PGA Tour title at the Tour Championship
    • Would become the second player from England to win the FedEx Cup after Justin Rose in 2018
    • The last seven winners of the Tour Championship were all in the final pairing during the final round

Is today finally going to be Tommy Fleetwood's day? The 34-year-old has won seven times on the DP World Tour but is yet to get over the line in a PGA Tour event.

The Englishman's 30 top-five finishes are the most of any player without a victory since 1983.

This is the third time this season he has held the lead/co-lead in a PGA Tour event - only Scottie Scheffler has more, with four (and the world number one went on to convert all four - including the US PGA Championship and The Open - into victories).

However, Fleetwood has stumbled with the finish line in sight. He was one shot clear on the final hole at the Travelers Championship in June but bogeyed the hole and was beaten by US Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley, who rolled in a birdie.

And then two weeks ago at the St Jude Championship, a bogey on the 17th hole of the final round cost him a chance of getting into a play-off, which was won by his compatriot Justin Rose.

  20. Scheffler bogeys firstpublished at 18:37 British Summer Time 24 August

    Scheffler -11 (1)

World number one Scottie Scheffler is the man to beat at any tournament right now, but he's started in poor fashion today.

He sprays his tee shot way left off the first tee and goes out of bounds.

A magnificent fourth shot means he only drops one shot, but he falls five shots behind Tommy Fleetwood and Patrick Cantlay.
