  1. Great shot!published at 23:18 16 June

    DeChambeau -6 (16)

And it's a fantastic effort from Bryson DeChambeau and he sends an iron shot thigh into the sky and lands it softly on the 17th green giving him a great look at birdie.

That's the advantage of his length as he can hit a shorter club into these holes and get the soft landing. He's left with 17 feet for a birdie and the outright lead.

    DeChambeau -6 (16)

Bryson DeChambeau just has a wait on the 17th tee box now as Rory McIlroy's caddie Harry Diamond tidies up the bunker before they head down 18.

The joint lead now has a go at the penultimate hole - a 220-yard par three.

    Cantlay -4, McIlroy -6 (17)

Rory McIlroy escapes out of the sand to a shade under four feet and holds his nerve to tidy up.

    Finau -4 (67)

And the clubhouse leader is Tony Finau.

The American makes a birdie at the 18th to finish off very nicely and put up a decent number.

The way things are going he'll surely be off to the range.

  5. Lipped out!published at 23:13 16 June

    DeChambeau -6 (16)

Bryson DeChambeau just nudges his ball down towards the hole from 22 feet on the 16th green - and it's tracking all the way but just doesn't turn in enough so although it catches a healthy piece of the hole it curls off the left edge and lips out.

It's a par though and that keeps him tied at the top

    Cantlay -4, McIlroy -6 (16)

The 15th and 16th holes are the first time that Rory McIlroy has made consecutive bogeys in this year's US Open. And what a time to do it.

The nerves must be jangling as he takes a six iron to the 220-yard par-three 17th, he pulls this left though and finds the greenside bunker.

  7. Flag huntingpublished at 23:09 16 June

    DeChambeau -6 (15)

Now then, playing from the fairway is not something Bryson DeChambeau is use to today - this being just the fifth one he's found off the tee all day.

But he makes the most of it as he fires it right at the flag from from 174 yards out and it's bang on line - but just digs its toes in and settles a bit further away than he'd have thought when it was in the air.

That was pure nerves from Rory McIlroy. He has been absolute rock solid from four feet and that was two and a half feet. That was pure nerves. That is gut wrenching.

  9. Bogey for McIlroypublished at 23:06 16 June

    Cantlay -4, McIlroy -6 (16)

Rory McIlroy is going for this. The pace isn't bad but his ball starts to drift right before turning back. He has a tiddler for par but dribbles it around the cup. Oh Rory.

No up and down for Patrick Cantlay, who also ships a shot as he misses a six footer.

Wow - Bryson DeChambeau has taken his frustration out on his golf ball on the 16th tee by absolutely belting one miles down onto the fairway.

Yes, that's right, he's finally found a fairway, although it had at least three bounces in the rough first before bobbling back out onto the short stuff.

    That's gone 361 yards if you're counting.

    Cantlay -5, McIlroy -7 (15)

Patrick Cantlay, who smashed his ball some 330 yards but is still about 20 yards behind Rory McIlroy, pulls his approach into the 16th left.

Rory McIlroy needs one nice tension-free swing and gets it. He finds the heart of the green and will have a birdie chance from 25 feet.

I can't believe it. He's been so solid on the greens. It's an awful feeling in your stomach when you miss one like that.

  13. Miss! Bogey for Brysonpublished at 22:57 16 June

    DeChambeau -6 (15)

He never looked comfortable over that four footer did Bryson DeChambeau and his par putt coming back lips out and costs him a shot!I mean, he never looks that comfortable thanks to his awkward stance and set-up with the long putter, but he's just wobbled a bit on the last couple of short putts so it was no real surprise that eventually he missed one.

  14. Postpublished at 22:56 16 June

    DeChambeau -7 (14)

Easy there Bryson! He's put a bit too much juice into the birdie putt and it's rolled past the hole and right into prime knee knocker territory.

  15. Postpublished at 22:56 16 June

    Cantlay -5, McIlroy -7 (15)

Rory McIlroy larrups his drive straight down the middle of the 16th fairway. He could not have placed it any better.

  16. On the greenpublished at 22:48 16 June

    DeChambeau -7 (14)

Bryson DeChambeau takes a big drink on the 15th tee box where he's able to watch Rory McIlroy make a bogey so as he pegs it up on this par three he's back in a share of the lead.

His response is to draw an iron into the heart of the green, just a touch past pin high and about 25 feet from the hole. He'll have that for the outright lead.

  17. Bogey for McIlroypublished at 22:48 16 June

    Cantlay -5, McIlroy -7 (15)

Rory McIlroy drops a shot as his par saver runs past by two feet.

  18. Postpublished at 22:46 16 June

    Cantlay -5, McIlroy -8 (14)

Talk about a man under pressure. This is ridiculously hard and Rory McIlroy is looking sideways before deciding to play a bump and run.

This is coming in a little hot and eventually settles 30 feet from the cup, with the Northern Irishman sprinting after his ball to check its progress,

  19. Par for DeChambeaupublished at 22:45 16 June

    DeChambeau -7 (14)

Not a bad effort at all from officially 62 feet from Bryson DeChambeau, who leaves just a couple of feet to tidy up, which he does, although it's not the cleanest strike in the world with the putter.

Everything's just getting a bit tense now...

  20. Postpublished at 22:44 16 June

    Cantlay -5, McIlroy -8 (14)

Rory McIlroy lets the wind drop but looks concerned as he fires in his approach to the par-three 15th. He has every reason to be. That's miles too aggressive and flies through the green and by the looks of it he's got a wretched lie as well.

A diabolically hard shot coming up.

Patrick Cantlay takes a different approach and uses the front slope to slow his ball and get into 16 feet.
