  1. Bryson first pumpingpublished at 22:01 British Summer Time 16 June

    DeChambeau -7 (11)

The first pump is back for Bryson DeChambeau as he somehow managed to get out of the bunker and leave himself under the hole on 11, leaving a much easier putt for par.

And when he inevitably rolls it in, the celebration is we're getting accustomed to with the American as he strides off the green still on seven under and still one in front.

  2. Birdie for Finaupublished at 21:57 British Summer Time 16 June

    Finau -3 (13)

Tony Finau's third round was torpedoed by a triple-bogey seven on Saturday but he revives his hopes of winning with a sensational pitch to 12 inches to tap in for birdie.

He'll need others to make mistakes down the stretch but that will be quite a boost.

    DeChambeau -7 (10)

Bryson DeChambeau from the scrub yet again having to use his immense power to extricate the ball from near a clump of grass - but although it's a good hit he's found the bunker on the left of the 11th green.

And the flag is right over there as well. A big test coming up.

    Cantlay -5, McIlroy -6 (11)

Rory McIlroy doesn't like that? He's on the dance floor but putting from downtown on the left as he doesn't quite finish off his shot and get the required turn right on the ball.

Patrick Cantlay is about 10 feet inside McIlroy.

It's a great read from the world number three, who has the line but not the pace, spot on. Another five or six inches and that was in. Both players walk away with pars.

  5. Bryson back in frontpublished at 21:45 British Summer Time 16 June

    DeChambeau -7 (10)

Maybe he did see the leaderboard and if he did, the response from Bryson DeChambeau was emphatic as he birdies 10 to go back into the solo lead.

The American got a bit of a break with his lie in the rough but he took full advantage and his short game again has been razor sharp.

DeChambeau bounces off to the 11th tee with plenty of high fives and fist bumps for his fans as he goes...

    Burns E (67)

The current clubhouse leader is American Ryder Cup player Sam Burns who has also found some form on Sunday.

He's shot a three-under 67 with no bogeys on his card, which in itself is a fine achievement.

Level par won't win him the tournament but it is at least a target to be shot at.

    DeChambeau -6, Pavon -2 (9)

Not sure if Bryson DeChambeau has seen the leaderboard, but he's hammered his second out of the rough, again getting lucky with the lie, and then played another silky smooth chip shot so he'll have a birdie putt on 10 coming up.

I said buckle up yesterday, get the harness on now. This is going to be great stuff down the final nine holes at Pinehurst.

  9. McIlroy claims share of the leadpublished at 21:37 British Summer Time 16 June

    Cantlay -5, McIlroy -6 (10)

    Did you hear that Bryson?

Rory McIlroy rattles the cup as he drains a putt from just inside 27 feet to take a share of the lead. The Northern Irishman enjoyed that and the huge roar that greeted it.

Patrick Cantlay follows up by sinking his birdie effort. Cue more raised decibels. This is going to be some finale.

  10. Bryson hits back ninepublished at 21:34 British Summer Time 16 June

So then, we're into the business end of the US Open now with everybody on the back nine - including Bryson DeChambeau who leads Rory McIlroy by just a shot.

He's got the par-five 10th to try and take advantage of, but has sprayed his tee shot wide right into the sandy rough.

The big question though, is one shot enough?

  11. Postpublished at 21:32 British Summer Time 16 June

    Cantlay -4, McIlroy -5 (9)

Rory McIlroy's lie isn't that bad after all and punts out around 170 yards. He will have a very short iron in from 140 yards or so, which he spins in to around 25 feet.

Patrick Cantlay comes out left and finds the fairway bunker from a pretty dodgy lie but the American plays a lovely third just inside his playing partner's ball. This is compelling stuff

  12. Bryson hits the turn one in frontpublished at 21:31 British Summer Time 16 June

    DeChambeau -6, Pavon -2 (9)

It's excellent speed again from Bryson DeChambeau on a putt from a world away on the ninth green, and it leaves just a tap-in to make his par that keeps him on six under.

He heads into the back nine still holding that one-shot lead, but can he keep it?

    Cantlay -4, McIlroy -5 (9)

Rory McIlroy's driving has been impeccable all day but he's hung this one right into the sandy wiregrass scrub.

Any chance of reaching the green of this 619-yard par five in two has surely gone now. Patrick Cantlay's kind enough to keep him company over there.

Bryson will have done that to change the energy of his round.

  15. Huge par!published at 21:19 British Summer Time 16 June

    DeChambeau -6, Pavon -3 (8)

Massive putt for Bryson DeChambeau on the eighth, with a pretty decent chip leaving his 15 feet to save his par, and as the ball disappears into the hole the American lets out a huge roar and gives an even bigger fist pump to celebrate.

He knows how big a putt that was under the circumstances.

  16. Henley makes movepublished at 21:17 British Summer Time 16 June

    Henley -2 (14)

Not many people are making a charge but up at 14, America's Russell Henley is getting psyched for a clubhouse lead.

He's rolled in his fifth birdie of the day and is up to two under par for the tournament.

It'd probably be quite nice to sit and watch the field come back to you.

  17. Postpublished at 21:16 British Summer Time 16 June

    Peter Scrivener

Everyone in the 5 Live commentary room punched the air as Rory McIlroy's birdie putt dropped. More arms in the air when Patrick Cantlay's putt missed.

    No bias here. Honest.

  18. Big birdie for McIlroypublished at 21:15 British Summer Time 16 June

    Cantlay -4, McIlroy -5 (9)

How quickly can things turn around in golf? Rory McIlroy rolls in his putt dead weight for a timely birdie.

Patrick Cantlay's effort slides left. The American looks disgusted.

  19. Postpublished at 21:12 British Summer Time 16 June

    Cantlay -4, McIlroy -4 (8)

Two great shots off the tee on the par-three ninth. Patrick Cantlay still has the honour and arcs into seven feet to set up a very makeable birdie chance.

Rory McIlroy is just right of the American's line and has a return journey of around 14-15 feet.

    Big, big putts coming up.

  20. Postpublished at 21:11 British Summer Time 16 June

    DeChambeau -6, Pavon -3 (7)

Bryson DeChambeau has a nice lie in the pine straw but some big trees in front of him, with a lucky gap he can play through though and he takes a huge swipe at trying to curve one left to right towards the green.

It's not quite the result Bubba Watson had with 'that' shot at the Masters a few years back and the ball goes long and left of the green.

And it's left DeChambeau with a horrific shot to try and attempt now, coming up a huge slope onto the green but with the flag right there at the top of it, absolutely no green to work with at all.

    Trouble.
