  1. Postpublished at 22:42 British Summer Time 14 June

    Finau -4, Aberg -6 (13)

Boom, picture perfect drives from Tony Finau and Ludvig Aberg down the par-four 14th.

Make that 350 and 371 yards respectively.

    Will either go flag hunting?

  2. Missed opportunitypublished at 22:40 British Summer Time 14 June

    Cantlay -5 (14)

Patrick Cantlay is pushing again. After finding the centre of the fairway with his tee shot on 14, he zings a wedge in to 15 feet to set up another birdie opportunity.

To get back into a share of the lead... oh, criminal putt. Leaves it six inches short. Par.

  3. Postpublished at 22:40 British Summer Time 14 June

    Fitzpatrick +4, Woods +6, Zalatoris +7 (15)

Tiger Woods is flirting with the cut line and his ball dances round the hole on the 15th.

How did that not drop? The American seemed to judge the pace just right but his ball skirts around the rim of the hole and stays up.

It's going to be pars all around here.

  4. Postpublished at 22:34 British Summer Time 14 June

    Fitzpatrick +4, Woods +6, Zalatoris +7 (14)

Three birdie putts incoming on the 15th and Tiger Woods is in closer but on a similar line to Will Zalatoris, who will be playing from around 15 feet.

  5. Pavon closes inpublished at 22:31 British Summer Time 14 June

    Pavon -5 (12*)

Excellent work from Matthieu Pavon, who dissects right greenside bunkers on the third to give himself a look at birdie from 13 feet.

The Frenchman is on a run of five unbroken pars but ends that by sinking his putt to move one shot off the lead.

  6. Postpublished at 22:31 British Summer Time 14 June

    Finau -4, Aberg -6 (13)

Now then Ludvig Aberg, how about a long-range birdie?

Off it goes on the 13th hole and it's beautifully done only to come up two or three revs short of the hole.

Fine birdie effort from distance for Tony Finau too that stops next to the cup.

  7. Postpublished at 22:28 British Summer Time 14 June

    Fitzpatrick +4, Woods +6, Zalatoris +7 (14)

Another good lag putt from Matt Fitzpatrick from 45 feet to two means he should be scribbling a par down on his card in a moment or two, like Will Zalatoris, who scrambles to keep his hopes alive of making the cut.

Tiger Woods up now but his putt misses on the high side. He really needs one of these to disappear soon.

  8. Theegala moves to five under for his roundpublished at 22:24 British Summer Time 14 June

    Theegala +2 (12*)

We've not seen a great deal of Sahith Theegala after he ended day one at seven over par.

But he's the hottest golfer at Pinehurst at the moment and has just nailed his fifth birdie of a clean day to move up to two under par.

Hideki Matsuyama's four-under 66 is currently the best round of the day.

  9. Birdie for Cantlaypublished at 22:24 British Summer Time 14 June

    Cantlay -5 (13)

Bounce back time for Patrick Cantlay on 13. He's on the green in two, 15 feet from the hole. Big opportunity.

Nails it. Back to where he started the day.

  10. Postpublished at 22:23 British Summer Time 14 June

    Fitzpatrick +4, Woods +6, Zalatoris +7 (13)

Tiger Woods sees his ball slunk into the sand on the 14th as he misses the fairway. It's no bother though, with a wedge in hand he sends a spiralling shot into 20 feet from the pin, closer than Matt Fitzpatrick, who sticks on the front edge.

Will Zalatoris goes flag hunting but knows immediately that's not going to stick around and brings the swale to the left of the green into play as his ball wanders off.

  11. Superb birdies from Aberg and Finaupublished at 22:19 British Summer Time 14 June

    Finau -4, Aberg -6 (12)

On the par-four 12th, Tony Finau sinks a 36-foot birdie putt from off the green.

It was a massive gamble, given the slopes of the green but boy, it paid off!

Not as impressive, but still mighty fine, Ludvig Aberg putts from 21 feet himself to move to six-under-par, two shots clear at the top of the pile.

  12. Postpublished at 22:12 British Summer Time 14 June

    Fitzpatrick +4, Woods +6, Zalatoris +7 (13)

Can Tiger drop this in? It looks good but his putt grazes the right edge and stays up.

He needs to find a birdie from somewhere to make the weekend.

  13. Postpublished at 22:10 British Summer Time 14 June

    Koepka +4, Morikawa +3 (13*)

A rapid downhill putt from 30 feet from Brooks Koepka for birdie does not drop but he'll tidy up for par.

Feels like he needed that after four shots gone in two holes but he still finds time to smile.

Collin Morikawa follows him into the cup for par.

  14. Cantlay mistake gives Aberg advantagepublished at 22:08 British Summer Time 14 June

    Cantlay -4 (12)

The chip on from Patrick Cantlay is a 7/10 affair. He's left himself with a six-footer for bogey. He shuffles his feet and settles over the putt. Shuffles from left-to-right-to left-to-right again and then sends his ball on its way.

In it drops. Aberg back to solo leader

  15. Postpublished at 22:08 British Summer Time 14 June

    Fitzpatrick +4, Woods +6, Zalatoris +7 (12)

Will Zalatoris has spent so much time in the sandy areas today he could have done with a deck chair. He's getting his steps in mind, straying from the right rough over to the left on the 13th.

Matt Fitzpatrick's drifting tee shot left just causes him a couple of difficulties as he plays from the wispy, wiry stuff to the back of the dance floor but Tiger is in prime position again.

He's struggled badly to get close with these but not with this one. Woods hardly puts any spin on that but lands his ball softly into around eight feet to bring up a birdie chance.

  16. From bad to worse for Cantlaypublished at 22:04 British Summer Time 14 June

    Cantlay -5 (11)

Patrick Cantlay is in a bit of a pickle on the 12th. He managed to advance his first shot from the scrub down towards the green but his ball came up short and right and in more sandy wasteland.

Our joint leader now has a huge porcupine style clump of wire grass immediately behind his ball.

He can't possibly knock his ball on the green, so is looking to try and just hack it a few yards sideways. He's looked to play it with his usual stance, he's tried with a backhand swing. He's tried with his wedge. He's tried with a hybrid club.

Finally he goes for the hybrid option and bunts his ball back into play. But that's three and he's got a 25-yard chip for par...

  17. Postpublished at 22:01 British Summer Time 14 June

    Rock +5 (9*)

England's Robert Rock reaches the turn in 40 largely courtesy of doubles on the 11th and 15th. He could really do with a couple of birdies on holes one to nine to secure a weekend berth.

  18. Aberg and Finau miss birdie chances on 11published at 21:58 British Summer Time 14 June

    Finau -3, Aberg -5 (11)

Tony Finau almost goes back-to-back with birdies to start his back nine.

From 25 feet on the par-four 11th, the putt has great pace, but not the perfect line needed and Finau settles for par.

Ludvig Aberg has 13 feet to finish from for birdie. Good pace, but like Finau, Aberg goes wide.

He too takes par from close range.

  19. Postpublished at 21:57 British Summer Time 14 June

Which is currently at five over.

Where the world number one Scottie Scheffler sits.

  20. Koepka three-putts from three feetpublished at 21:56 British Summer Time 14 June

    Koepka +4 (11*)

There's a sight you don't see every day.

Brooks Koepka has missed from three feet for bogey.

And then he's missed from three feet for double bogey.

A punishing triple for the five-time major winner and suddenly he's looking over his shoulder at the cut line.
