  1. Bogey for Woodspublished at 21:56 British Summer Time 14 June

    Fitzpatrick +4, Woods +6, Zalatoris +7 (12)

That is going to hurt. Tiger Woods makes bogey after being the only player in his trio to find the fairway off the tee.

Just like Thursday, his iron play has let him down overall so far today, and it all went downhill literally when his approach brought the left slope into play and he misjudged his chip back on.

  2. Postpublished at 21:52 British Summer Time 14 June

    Cantlay -5 (11)

Patrick Cantlay is leaning left after thrashing his ball off the 12th tee. That usually indicates the ball has gone right. And right is bad on this hole.

His ball lands in the scrub, bounces forward and then comes to an abrupt halt. All about the lie from here.

  3. Postpublished at 21:49 British Summer Time 14 June

    Kim -1 (13)

Seonghyeon Kim has moved back to one-under-par with a long birdie putt on the 13th.

It keeps him even for the day and in a seven-way tie for 10th place.

  4. Cantlay joins Abergpublished at 21:46 British Summer Time 14 June

    Cantlay -5 (11)

That's quite some shot from Patrick Cantlay on the par-four 11th, zinging his second into the front of the green and watching as his ball releases up towards the flag. He's going to have a five-footer for birdie.

He's been wobbling a bit over the past few holes so this will be much needed.

The American gives the ball a prod towards the hole, it's tentative and the ball tries to duck left at the last but gravity takes over.

He's back into a share of the lead.

  5. Birdies for Finau and Johnsonpublished at 21:42 British Summer Time 14 June

    Finau -3, Aberg -5, Johnson +9 (10)

Dustin Johnson's chances of making the weekend seem all but over, but he does go close to an eagle on the par-five 10th.

From the greenside bunker, Johnson's chip fractionally steers wide of dropping in, a great effort.

Tony Finau has a very good start to his back nine, putting from 12 feet to find a birdie.

Ludvig Aberg settles for a tap-in par while Johnson follows up from his near-eagle with an 11-foot putt for birdie.

  6. Postpublished at 21:37 British Summer Time 14 June

    Fitzpatrick +4, Woods +5, Zalatoris +7 (11)

Tiger Woods gives himself a birdie chance on the 11th but if only that had released a tad more, it'd be from 10 feet as a opposed to 17. The American has a quick peek at the leaderboard, working out what he needs to do but his putt is a tad too hard and doesn't swing from right to left enough.

Pars for Woods and Matt Fitzpatrick as Will Zalatoris fritters away another shot with a poor approach.

  7. Bogey for Koepkapublished at 21:37 British Summer Time 14 June

    Koepka +1, Morikawa +3 (11*)

Alas for Brooks Koepka, he misses his putt - and that was for par.

Maybe the injustice in the sand will fire him round his final seven holes.

You can't really tell from his demeanour.

  8. Scrambled par for Cantlaypublished at 21:33 British Summer Time 14 June

    Cantlay -4 (10)

A scruffy hole that by Patrick Cantlay's standards, but he showed the qualify when it counted - as his short game got him out of trouble with a nice chip up onto the green and eight-foot putt saving his par.

  9. Postpublished at 21:32 British Summer Time 14 June

    Koepka E, Morikawa +3 (10*)

Yikes that looks ugly for Brooks Koepka and it's not his fault at all after his ball rolls into a bunker and finds a horrible lie in an unraked part of the sand.

He isn't happy - and rightly so. He tells an official that someone needs to be held accountable for not raking properly.

I'd be mentally gone at this point. Brooks though? He's just lofted it out of the bunker to seven feet. What a pro.

Hope his caddie is raking the sand behind him...

  10. Thompson on the chargepublished at 21:30 British Summer Time 14 June

    Thompson -3 (5)

Qualifier Davis Thompson has just rattled off three straight birdies, which puts him on three under for the tournament and joint sixth spot on the leaderboard.

The American is in his third US Open and creeping up on the leaders now after a fine run.

  11. Double bogey for Garciapublished at 21:30 British Summer Time 14 June

    Garcia +1 (11*)

And just like that Sergio Garcia is out of the red numbers. The Spaniard who is sporting a white and red ensemble, is wayward off the tee as he finds the native area down the left and he then zips right the way across the fairway into the same stuff on the other side.

There's no saving par from there with his third coming up short of the green as well for good measure.

  12. Postpublished at 21:28 British Summer Time 14 June

    Finau -2, Aberg -5, Johnson +10 (9)

A tough challenge for Ludvig Aberg on this 621-yard par-five 10th.

In the rough on the left of the fairway, Aberg deliberates over how to get out of the native area.

A sensible lay-up, giving him 166 yards left ahead of his third shot from the fairway.

  13. Rough spot for Cantlaypublished at 21:24 British Summer Time 14 June

    Cantlay -4 (9)

Patrick Cantlay's in the thick stuff off the left of the 10th fairway after he second shot clattered into the trees and fell into the rough.

He has a line to the green but no chance of stopping it, so the ball races off the back leaving him with an up and down from there to save his par five.

  14. Postpublished at 21:22 British Summer Time 14 June

    Rose +4 (7)

Justin Rose's round so far has been like riding the big dipper. The 2013 US Open champion got under way with a birdie. Since then he's gone bogey, par, bogey, par, birdie and is sailing a little too close to the projected cut line.

  15. DJ disasterpublished at 21:18 British Summer Time 14 June

    Finau -2, Aberg -5, Johnson +10 (9)

Dustin Johnson gets out of the greenside bunker at the par-three ninth, but the shot flies out of the sand and straight off the back of the green.

From there, DJ needs two attempts to chip on to the green, setting himself up with a putt north of 20 feet away, just to make double bogey.

It is a good effort, but turns away from the hole too soon. Johnson leaves with a triple bogey.

Ludvig Aberg goes first of the two long-range birdie attempts. An excellent putt from 38 feet, the line was spot on, just needed another 10 per cent or so.

Finau's birdie chance from 26 feet falls short, but he does tap it in for par.

  16. Morikawa makes bogey at the firstpublished at 21:18 British Summer Time 14 June

    Koepka E, Morikawa +3 (10*)

I’ll have that back thank you, says Pinehurst Number Two as Collin Morikawa tries to feed his chip onto the green only for it to come spinning back to him.

He tries again with his putter and gets it onto the surface but with a treacherous six feet to limit damage to bogey.

Relief as he watches it drop.

From the opposite side of the green, Brooks Koepka takes aim from 20 feet but drags just to the right. Par.

  17. Fitzpatrick makes superb birdie puttpublished at 21:17 British Summer Time 14 June

    Fitzpatrick +4, Woods +5, Zalatoris +6 (10)

Tiger Woods saves his par with two solid putts. Meanwhile, Matt Fitzpatrick knocks in a sensational long putt for an unlikely birdie.

    The Englishman needed that.

  18. Postpublished at 21:15 British Summer Time 14 June

    Fitzpatrick +5, Woods +5, Zalatoris +6 (9)

Tiger Woods zings his second right through the 10th, some 312 yards into the native area. A show of power when he didn't quite need all that.

He manages to get out and up on the dance floor in one attempt but has work to do just to save his par.

Matt Fitzpatrick finds the rustic stuff on the way in and ends up facing a putt that goes uphill and then slopes down...from 45 feet. Eek

  19. Postpublished at 21:09 British Summer Time 14 June

    Finau -2, Aberg -5, Johnson +7 (8)

Good tee shots from Tony Finau and Ludvig Aberg on the par-three ninth as they come towards the turn.

Both land safely at the front of the green, but face very long putts for birdie.

Dustin Johnson meanwhile finds the bunker just short of the front and faces yet another challenge just to make par.

  20. Postpublished at 21:09 British Summer Time 14 June

    Koepka E, Morikawa +2 (9*)

In round one, Brooks Koepka got off to a hot start with three birdies in his opening nine holes to briefly lead the US Open.

He's now onto that front nine again having started today's round at the 10th.

Could he put a run together? A delicious approach to the first green gives him a sniff of another birdie.
