  1. Ramsay moves up to joint fourthpublished at 14:00 BST

    Ramsay -10 (4)

Hello, here comes another Brit up to 10 under par - and it's a Scotsman getting an eagle at the fourth!

As Ewen Ferguson did about 10 minutes ago, Richie Ramsay has tickled his putt in to pick up two shots - and join Aaron Rai three off the lead.

  2. Rai moves into contentionpublished at 13:55 BST

    Rai -10 (4)

As one Englishman slips away from -10, another is making his own move.

A birdie for Aaron Rai moves him up to fourth, three back off the lead.

  3. Hovland seizes leadpublished at 13:52 BST

    Matusyama -12, Hovland -13, Rose -9 (3)

Remember when I told you the third was a tricky hole?

Not for Viktor Hovland. He's grabbed the lead outright with an excellent 14-foot birdie putt.

Big move from the Norwegian today.

More frustration for Justin Rose though as he gifts another shot back.

  4. Postpublished at 13:50 BST

Weather update for you after that dark cloud opened up its wares about half an hour ago.

Wentworth is now bathed in sunshine.

    Welcome to England.

  5. Eagle alert for Fergusonpublished at 13:49 BST

    Ferguson -8 (4)

It's not been a fun start for Ewen Ferguson, dropping three shots over his first three holes, but that should cheer him up.

A fine eagle at the fourth gets his scorecard moving in the right direction.

  6. Bogey for Abergpublished at 13:43 BST

    Aberg -11 (3)

The difficult third has had its way with Ludvig Aberg and he's trudging off the green after making bogey and dropping out of the lead.

Must have known I'd put him in the headline and image on this live.

So now I'll have to go and change that.

  7. McIlroy makes consecutive birdiespublished at 13:40 BST

    McIlroy -5 (13)

Loud cheers reverberate around the 13th green as Rory McIlroy goes back-to-back on the birdie train.

That's three shots picked up in four holes for last week's Irish Open champ, and the crowd loved it.

A chance for a good finish too.

While I thank you warmly for following my musings, we do also have a group on site and you can listen along to BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra coverage as well.

  9. Bogey for Rose at the secondpublished at 13:35 BST

    Matusyama -12, Hovland -12, Rose -10 (2)

The par-three second is playing very short today at just 136 yards.

Our final group all get themselves birdie putts but none of the trio can convert.

And in fact, Justin Rose sloppily gives away a shot there to drop a couple back. An unusual mistake from the Englishman.

  10. Lowry picks up the pacepublished at 13:34 BST

    Lowry -7 (12)

We're not seeing anything of Shane Lowry but the popular Irishman is assembling a fine round.

Four under and no bogeys on the card through 12 holes, he's climbed into the top 20.

  11. Aberg also leads the waypublished at 13:23 BST

    Aberg -12 (2)

We have a three-way tie at the top. Strap in, this is how it's going to be today.

Ludvig Aberg produces a divine tee shot at the second and buries the birdie putt to move to -12.

  12. Hovland into share of leadpublished at 13:23 BST

    Matusyama -12, Hovland -12, Rose -11 (1)

Marker laid down by Viktor Hovland at the first!

He's just downed a 30-foot putt for birdie and he joins Hideki Matsuyama at -12 after the overnight leader makes par.

A scrambling Justin Rose gives himself a chance and he saves from eight feet. Gutsy.

  13. Niemann signs for seven-under 65published at 13:20 BST

    Niemann -9 (65)

The best player on the course today has been Joaquin Niemann and he's got a chance to sign for a 64 at the 18th.

He plays it beautifully out of the bunker and should capitalise with the short putt. No - missed!

Still, it's been a cracking day for the Chilean who closes three back from the lead.

  14. Postpublished at 13:16 BST

    Yep, it's raining.

  15. Postpublished at 13:16 BST

    Matusyama -12, Hovland -11, Rose -11 (13:00 BST)

An iffy start for Justin Rose, whose ball is buried in the rough and only travelled 240 yards.

He bashes his second shot out but it pulls up well short of the green and in more clumpy grass.

Hideki Matsuyama misses the green too but Viktor Hovland is safely on - and scurries under his umbrella.

  16. Par start for Abergpublished at 13:12 BST

    Aberg -11 (1)

Early chance for Ludvig Aberg to join Matsuyama on top of the pile.

No, he's pulled his putt right of the hole at the first.

    He'll stay one back.

  17. Postpublished at 13:12 BST

    Van Rooyen -8 (66)

Another player climbing the leaderboard is South Africa's Erik van Rooyen and his rather fine moustache.

He's closed out for 66 as well, joining Matt Wallace at eight under for the tournament.

  18. Postpublished at 13:10 BST

    Matusyama -12, Hovland -11, Rose -11 (13:00 BST)

Right then, final group. Justin Rose goes first and flings it left into the trees.

Viktor Hovland goes off in a similar direction but works it back for a nice lie on the fairway.

The leader Hideki Matsuyama missed this fairway on days one and two but likes this one and bosh, he's in prime spot.

  19. Postpublished at 13:07 BST

    Wallace -8 (66)

Another Englishman has also just ended his round.

It's a 66 for Matt Wallace with a clean card and a significant move away from the cut line he squeaked over yesterday.

Will be a much later start tomorrow.

  20. Postpublished at 13:05 BST

Midway down the first fairway, we catch up with Pablo Larrabal taking aim at the green.

What's caught my eye though is the blackest of black clouds lurking behind the trees.

We were forecast rain for this afternoon. That could make things interesting.
