At the other end of the course, Rose's Ryder Cup team-mate Tommy Fleetwood is finishing up.

It's a bogey at the last for the Englishman to leave him at three under for the tournament. Not in the mix, but not in any trouble of missing out on Sunday.

  2. Postpublished at 13:02 BST

    Rose -11 (13:00 BST)

No doubting the home favourite in the final group.

Terrific reception for the grey-jumpered Justin Rose as he strides onto the first tee.

Plenty of whistles, cheers and excitement reverberates around the stands.

  3. Additional cut on day threepublished at 13:00 BST

Do you like your golf with a slice of jeopardy?

Not content with a cut yesterday, the DP World Tour have put in an additional chop today to get the field down to 78 players for tomorrow's final round.

That leaves nine or so players facing an early out and is projected to be at -2.

Rory McIlroy and Bob MacIntyre currently at -3 on the back nine just need to make sure they limit mistakes coming home.

    Aberg -11 (12:50 BST)

Ludvig Aberg is just one shot back here at Wentworth but it's not enough to get him in the final three-ball today.

He's playing alongside Spain's Pablo Larrazabal and Scotland's Richie Ramsay and has just thundered his opening drive down the hill at the first.

He'll be taking his second out of the rough.

All this Team Europe stuff is very uplifting, but Team USA are doing their own tournament bonding this weekend too.

Over in California, Ryder Cup rookie Ben Griffin leads the way through two rounds.

You can read about that - and how the likes of Scottie Scheffler are shaping up - over here

  6. Rose to the occasionpublished at 12:51 BST

    Rose -11 (13:00 BST)

What a year it has been for Justin Rose.

The evergreen 45-year-old finished second at the Masters in April and won the St Jude Championship on the PGA Tour last month.

Now, he's very much in contention for what he described as a "bucket-list win" on his 20th appearance at Wentworth.

Undoubtedly the elder statesman of Team Europe, at the moment he is one of its most in-form players.

  7. Birdie for Fitzpublished at 12:48 BST

    Fitzpatrick -8, Fichardt -9 (2)

Tidy start for Matt Fitzpatrick as he picks up a birdie at the second.

Playing partner Darren Fichardt of South Africa has begun even better - he's two under through two.

Fichardt and Fitzpatrick playing together is a live texter's nightmare.

  8. So far on Saturdaypublished at 12:47 BST

    Niemann -9, Wallace -7 (16)

There are scores out there so far in the sunshine at Wentworth.

LIV golfer Joaquin Niemann has been on fire. He only just made this on the line yesterday but a tap-in birdie at the 16th has put him to seven under for his round and up to -9 for the tournament.

Playing partner Matt Wallace is also looking good - he's at five under today.

    Plenty to encourage the leaders.

  9. Scots in the mixpublished at 12:43 BST

Just teeing off is three-time winner on the DP World Tour Ewen Ferguson.

A 67 and a 68 to start the tournament have put in contention - although he's in some trouble here off the first, down in the trees.

He'll be followed down the opening hole by compatriot Richie Ramsay who has got himself into the penultimate group.

This is the first cut he's made in six tournaments, but he's in the mix here.

  10. What about McIlroy?published at 12:38 BST

    McIlroy -2 (9)

Many of you will have seen Rory McIlroy's dramatic win at the Irish Open last week.

You know, the one where he rescued a play-off with a huge eagle putt at the 72nd before beating Sweden's Joakim Lagergren in three holes.

Here, it has been more sedate for the Masters champ. Four under par, he's some way off the pace today. And the last shot we got of him was scrambling around in some brutally thick greenery.

Just another round of golf, eh.

  11. Which Ryder Cup players missed out?published at 12:36 BST

    R Hojgaard +5

Only one of the 11 Team Europe players missed the cut here, but it wasn't even close for upcoming Ryder Cup rookie Rasmus Hojgaard.

An automatic qualifier for Luke Donald's side, the Dane looked out of sorts over the first two days, finishing seven above the cut line.

Not ideal prep for two weeks' time in New York.

  12. Team Europe jostle for positionpublished at 12:35 BST

Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald wants to see his players in fine form before Bethpage Black in two weeks - and many of his stars have delivered.

Justin Rose, Ludvig Aberg and Viktor Hovland all enter the weekend one shot off the lead.

Matt Fitzpatrick is another three back after a double bogey on the 18th on Friday cost him dearly.

A bit further down the leaderboard, Tyrrell Hatton, Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm, Shane Lowry, Tommy Fleetwood and Robert MacIntyre also made the weekend.

  13. Matsuyama leads the waypublished at 12:32 BST

    Matsuyama -12 (13:00 BST)

What a performance it was from 2021 Masters champ Hideki Matsuyama yesterday, teeing up at Wentworth for the first time.

His eight-under 64 - including two eagles - was the joint-best round of the week and catapulted him to the top of the leaderboard.

He always wear yellow on Sundays - will his round today keep him fittingly in the lead to sport that tomorrow?

Ah leafy Virginia Water - we've missed you.

Welcome to the flagship event on the DP World Tour and an opportunity to check in on the health of Team Europe two weeks out from the Ryder Cup.

Diagnosis so far = pretty healthy.

It's always a proper shootout in this corner of Surrey and over the next two days we'll have it all covered.

    Shall we?
