When you look at Fact To File, he has the most classical, beautiful head and that was probably why he was so expensive. It's all about his aura.

Fact To File owner J.P. McManus, speaking to BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra: "I'm delighted with him. I had a lot of faith in him. It was tempting to go for the Gold Cup and hopefully, we'll go for that another time.

"The quick pace suited him and it was a very uncomplicated ride. It was exciting.

On running in the Gold Cup: "Anything is possible. It was a close call for this year. The fast pace suited him and he wouldn't have minded the ground a softer either."

Winning jockey Mark Walsh tells ITV Racing: "That was brilliant. That sort of distance suits him. He never missed a beat.

"Even coming up he heard the crowd and pricked his ears - he had loads left.

"I love it. It is a dream and a privilege to ride these horses."

Fact To File kept pace with Il Est Francais, kicked for home over the final couple of fences and powered up the hill. The French horse could not respond.

And now Il Est Francais has got himself to where he was at Kempton and in the front. Fact To File has moved out to the side.

Things are not as people would assume because if Il Est Francais is going to win, he will have to do it in a different way than how he attacked the King George.

I don't think we can trust Il Est Francais. He burst blood vessels. He can be a weak finisher and he looked for all the world he was going to win the King George but he got charged down by Banbridge.

He didn't like the slow ground he faced a lot in France.
