The final race of the day has been renamed in honour of Maureen Mullins, the mother of Willie Mullins, who died last month aged 94.

So it would be fitting if Embassy Gardens, trained by Willie and ridden by his son Patrick, who is no stranger to the winner’s enclosure at Cheltenham, was to win.

The Mullins’ are chasing a third consecutive success in the race after Gaillard Du Mesnil twelve months ago and Stattler in 2022.

Another emotional winner would be Mr Vango who will be running in memory of his trainer Mark Bradstock, who guided Coneygree to Gold Cup glory in 2015 and who died earlier this month.

The horse is now trained by his widow Sara and is the yard’s only runner at this year’s Festival.

Right then, I hope the day's racing has treated you well as we head towards the final race - one to try and recoup lost money, or to top up the winnings.

  3. Lark In The Mornin's win 'never really in doubt'published at 17:06 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March

This horse had long been touted as a likely contender for this race. It was never really in doubt.

He was ridden patiently, moved out at the top of the hill for a clear run and then brought out to the stand side to try to get some better ground.

A good jump at the last and JJ Slevin has seen it out well.

Could this race see joy for France? Milan Tino, who is trained in Chantilly by Noel George and Amanda Zetterholm and is George’s first Festival runner, is definitely one to watch

Although he was beaten in his last two runs here he has shown some promising form and will be ridden by Jonjo O’Neill Jr, whose father enjoyed success both as a trainer and a jockey at Prestbury Park.

Also on the shortlist are Liari from the Paul Nicholls yard and Lark In the Morn, trained by Joseph O’Brien, son of renowned Flat trainer Aidan.

A pretty good day's work for Paul Townend with three winners. He's not going to add to that, however, as he's not down for the final two races of the day.

More from winning jockey Paul Townend, speaking to Racing TV: "It wasn't Plan A I suppose! I was a bit further back than where I wanted to be but I was comfortable. She was settled.

"The pace was stop-start a bit. She showed how good she was."

On State Man: "It is hard work out there. It is hard to pick up and go away and fly but he put it to bed very quickly. He is a star. I love riding him. It is so simple."

The writing was on the wall from halfway down the back straight. Lossiemouth has so much class and relaxed beautifully. I would imagine that was a jockey's dream and she has won this with the minimum amount of hassle. This was a 'wow' race and beautiful to watch.
