    There’s some good news, of sorts, for punters at Cheltenham.

    The price of a pint of Guinness is £7.50 - the same as last year.

    Rising prices and the cost of living crisis has seen slower ticket sales than recent years for the meeting.

    Still, if you have the money - or want to celebrate a winner - you can pick up a bottle of champagne for £75.

    Last year’s Triumph Hurdle winner Lossiemouth is well fancied to make it back-to-back Festival wins.

    Trained by Willie Mullins, the grey mare is set to go off as odds-on favourite with her only run this season coming at Cheltenham in January where she beat Love Envoi by nine lengths.

    She goes up against Love Envoi once again while Marie’s Rock, who won this race in 2022 but disappointed last year when Honeysuckle triumphed, will hope for an improvement in fortunes.

    It has been a mixed day for trainer Nicky Henderson in the absence of his stable star Constitution Hill.

    Luccia put in a big run to finish third in the Champion Hurdle at 33-1 but his other Champion Hurdle runner Iberico Lord was pulled up, as was Jeriko Du Reponet in the opener.

    The 73-time Cheltenham Festival winner will be hoping that things improve as the week goes on.

    Some very sad news as trainer Fergal O'Brien confirms that, external his horse Highland Hunter has had to be put down after falling in the Ultima Handicap Chase.

    The horse's trainer wrote on X: “Not sure we’ll be tweeting again today after this. Absolutely devastated. Thanks for the messages we’re already receiving and those to come #RIPHighlandHunter.”

    Winning trainer Willie Mullins, speaking to ITV Sport: "Paul rode him so well - I didn't dream he would be fifth or sixth jumping the fourth-last but he rode him with supreme confidence. He probably thought the ground would take it out of the horses in front of him. When you're riding with confidence, you can do that."

    Asked about Constitution Hill, Mullins said: "You've got to turn up to win a Champion Hurdle, and we turned up!"
