    New Zealand beat India by seven wickets with 11 balls remaining in Hamilton to take an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match one-day international series, with one game remaining on Friday. Former skipper Ross Taylor struck an unbeaten 112, with 15 fours. The third match in the series was tied.

    Ahead of the Winter Olympics, which start in Sochi on 6 February, Britain's biathletes will be able to compete internationally beyond the Games after a sponsor stepped in to supply a six-figure sum.

    The deal with a Birmingham healthcare supplier is worth £250,000 over four years, enough to guarantee continued support for GB at international level.

    All but one of the British senior team come from the military, and their continued funding had been in jeopardy with the British Army cutting back on its contribution.

    Scotland have beaten Papua New Guinea by 52 runs in their latest World Cup qualifier in New Zealand.

    The Scots, who won the toss, elected to bat and Preston Mommsen top scored with 94 as they made 288/9 and then reduced their opponents to 236 all out.

    Victory for Scotland against Kenya on Thursday would see them book their place at the 2015 World Cup.

    Good news for racing fans with the news that Tuesday afternoon's meeting at Taunton goes ahead as planned after the track passed a precautionary inspection.

    Clerk of the course Jason Loosemore had planned to check conditions at 7am but was able to give the green light to the meeting slightly earlier than planned after just three millimetres of rain in the last 24 hours. However, the going is officially described as heavy.

    However, Wednesday's meeting at Newcastle has been abandoned due to a waterlogged track.

    The main football story from last night is the news that Newcastle and Paris St-Germain have agreed a fee of around £20m for France midfielder Yohan Cabaye.

    The French champions had a £14m bid for the 28-year-old, who joined the Magpies in 2011, rejected on Sunday but a £19m deal, that could rise beyond £20m, has been reached.

    Cabaye, who has scored 17 goals in 79 appearances for the Magpies, will fly to Paris for a medical on Tuesday and will not play a part in Newcastle's Premier League game with Norwich.
