    An unnamed German athlete's A drug sample at the Sochi Winter Games is abnormal and a second sample will be tested later on Friday, the German Olympic Committee (DOSB) said.

    The DOSB said they were informed by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on Thursday evening and a disciplinary commission would convene later in the day after the B sample has been tested."

    The Premier League returns this weekend after what feels like an age. Some teams including Manchester United and West Ham have enjoyed a mid-winter break in the sunshine so it will be interesting to see if they pay-off.

    Mesut Ozil has apologised after missing a penalty in Arsenal's 2-0 Champions League defeat by Bayern Munich.

    The Gunners have a mountain to climb in the second leg at the Allianz Arena on 11 March, but things could have been so different had Ozil converted his spot-kick to open the scoring at the Emirates on Wednesday.

    Ozil wrote on his official Facebook account: "the next morning doesn't feel better either. sorry guys - it wasn't planned that way. outnumbered, it was really hard to win against this team."

    First of all the news from overnight and top seeds Justin Rose, Rory McIlroy and Henrik Stenson are all out of the WGC Match Play Championship while second seed Jason Day needed four extra holes to advance.

    World number seven McIlroy was beaten at the 19th by American Harris English, while US Open champion Rose, the final Englishman left in the event, lost at the 20th hole to veteran Ernie Els.
