In his regular BBC Sport tactics column, Robbie Savage looks at Chelsea's Champions League semi-final defeat by Atletico Madrid and says manager Jose Mourinho got it wrong.

He said: "Individual errors cost Chelsea a place in the final but, for once, Jose Mourinho's tactics were also at fault.

"Chelsea's win over Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday was an example of Mourinho getting his game plan right. I was at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday to see what happened when he made a wrong call."

Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone describes Ayrton Senna as having been a "super friend", but believes there was more to the Brazilian than met the eye.

"Ayrton was reasonably complicated," says Ecclestone. "I always thought that he had a bit of a conflict going on inside with all sorts of things. Obviously his results speak for themselves - the world knows that.

"As a friend, he was super - somebody I could trust. He was very close to my family. He was a nice guy."

Crippy Cooke on Facebook:, external He's been good and bad an equal amount this season. Done the double over Liverpool & Man City, but loses to Stoke, Newcastle, Sunderland, Palace, Villa. Dropped four points to West Brom too. They've spent over £120M to get nowhere effectively as things stand. Mourinho is facing back-to-back trophyless seasons. Speaks for itself I feel.

Ibrar Naveed:, external With squads worth £450m and £350m the last two years he's failed to win a trophy. His "failures" are much worse than Arsene Wenger's.

Chidi Everestus:, external Why not! Of course he is still the special one without ups & downs you cannot be who you are.

Ayrton Senna's father provided financial backing to allow his 21-year-old son to be able to go to England in 1981 and compete in the Formula Ford 1600. He won the championship at the first attempt.

Despite the promise he showed in his fledgling motorsport career, he was under pressure to return to Brazil and work in the family business and though he initially did return home, his desire to race grew only stronger.

Consequently, he decided not to pursue a career in business any longer, returning to England in 1982 to compete in the Formula Ford 2000, winning both the British and European titles that year.

More from West Ham boss Sam Allardyce: "In Tim Sherwood's situation he's proven that he can handle the job and he's learning as he's going on. Spurs have done well under him.

"It would be absolutely fantastic for us to beat Tottenham at home having beaten them twice this season. We're more than capable of beating them if we hit top form, but we have to be wary of their strengths and nullify those strengths."

West Ham manager Sam Allardyce: "To get a result in our last home game will be very important to us all, so we don't go into the summer on a dampener. In our last four games, our performances have been good, but without a result comes criticism.

"It's all about results. I can't remember us playing as well as we did against Liverpool this season. But it was a defeat."

BBC F1 commentator James Allen at Imola: "There's a bigger turnout at Imola for the Ayrton Senna event than I expected - 20 years on the great Brazilian is clearly not forgotten.

"It's a Bank Holiday here in Italy and that has brought out a large and enthusiastic crowd. This is a typically Italian event, but there are plenty of Brazilians and people from all over Europe. Senna represents the ultimate expression of what F1 is about - speed, danger, glamour, passion and intelligence. He was a hard man on the track, as is being recognised today, but also a driver who put everything on the line for his own ambitions and for the pleasure of fans.

"Roland Ratzenberger, who also died that weekend 20 years ago, is not forgotten. There was a Mass for both drivers and Ratzenberger's parents are here and took part in it. At 13:45 local time the commemoration takes place at Tamburello corner where Senna died. That will be emotional for those, like me, who were here in 1994 and for the thousands of fans who have come here today."

James Allen will be providing updates from Imola throughout the day on Sportsday.

Roland Ratzenberger deserves a permanent tribute at Imola alongside Ayrton Senna's statue, according to his former team-mate David Brabham.

The Austrian died after crashing in qualifying at the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix, a day before ex-world champion Senna lost his life in the race. Brabham believes Ratzenberger should at least have a "simple plaque" at the circuit to commemorate him.

"I was sad when I heard there was nothing for Roland," he tells BBC Sport.

The young Ayrton Senna is said to have woken up enthusiastically on Grand Prix mornings to watch his Formula 1 heroes in action, before he was finally able to get a taste of competitive racing himself in 1973, when he was legally able to race karts, at the age of 13.

He swiftly made his mark, winning his first competitive kart race on 1 July that year before claiming championship titles in 1977, 1978, 1979, 1980 and 1981.

Three-time world champion Sir Jackie Stewart remembers Ayrton Senna as a racing driver who drove "on the limit" with "great verve", but his fondest memory of all was of a 1992 phone call Senna made to him.

"I interviewed Ayrton Senna in 1991, when the biggest question at the time was whether he had intentionally taken Alain Prost out of the 1990 Japanese Grand Prix, which secured him the World Championship that year," he tells BBC Radio 5 live. "I asked him the question and he refuted it, but I said it certainly looked like that to me.

"Senna did not speak to me for at least a year after that, but when I was in Australia for the grand prix he called me in my hotel. He told me he was going to announce to the media that he took out Prost intentionally and that God would not let him tell a lie and keep it that way. I really respected him for doing that and, for all his great drives - that one phone call was my greatest memory."

Alastair Cook hopes England's batsmen will still work with axed coach Graham Gooch, despite the captain having a say in his departure.

Gooch became the first casualty of the Peter Moores era on Thursday morning after it was confirmed he had been dismissed from his job as England's batting coach.

"We felt it's time to freshen things up and move on. For me, to still have him in my corner, go back to him, talk cricket, work on my game like I've always done. But we need to thank him for his hard work," said Cook.

"A lot of the players have a great relationship with him, on a one-to-one basis as well, not just me. I hope those guys will feel free to go and work with Goochy because we all know the work he does is outstanding."

He said: "In my eyes, when you reach an agreement to allow a player to go, either on loan or permanently, he should be able to play. The fairest way is what we saw last night with Courtois."
