Norwich defender Michael Turner admits the relegation-threatened Canaries are looking for big favours from other clubs as they bid to stay in the Premier League.

Five successive defeats have seen Norwich fall into the bottom three with just two fixtures remaining. Arsenal will be the visitors to Carrow Road on the final day.

Turner said: "It is out of our hands so we will be aware of the results coming in and obviously we need teams to do us favours but when it comes to it on Sunday we need to make sure we do ourselves justice."

Tottenham will be without Andros Townsend for Saturday's Premier League clash at West Ham after the winger underwent ankle surgery.

The 22-year-old damaged ankle ligaments at Stoke last weekend and went under the knife on Thursday, ruling him out for up to 10 weeks.

England team-mate Kyle Walker (pelvis) is also sidelined, as is Erik Lamela (back). Jan Vertonghen (ankle) and Etienne Capoue (foot) are back training but unlikely to be involved.

Stoke have started tentative talks with Liverpool over the permanent signing of winger Oussama Assaidi.

Potters boss Mark Hughes was keen to stress the dialogue is at a very early stage, but he is hopeful of keeping the Moroccan at the Britannia Stadium after a successful season-long loan.

Assaidi has scored four goals in 24 appearances this season, and it would have been more had he not missed two months with a knee ligament injury.

Worcestershire sign England Twenty20 opener Alex Hales on loan from Nottinghamshire as cover for their own England absentee, Moeen Ali.

Moeen has retained his international place for next week's one-day clash with Scotland and the Pears have responded by bringing in Hales, who has fallen out of favour in the longer form with Notts.

The 25-year-old averaged just 13.94 in 10 LV County Championship appearances last season, with only two half-centuries, while he made 61 and a duck against Lancashire earlier this season.

Tottenham head coach Tim Sherwood has found this week's speculation surrounding Frank de Boer a "strange situation" and warned anyone looking to shunt him out of the hotseat that they have a "tough act to follow".

Life as manager has rarely been straightforward for Sherwood and this week was no different, with comments from the Ajax boss fuelling speculation over his future.

De Boer said he was open to speaking with Tottenham about taking over as manager and the Premier League club felt the need to release a statement denying rumours they had contacted the Dutch giants.

Sherwood joked on Wednesday that "somewhere along the line someone is telling porkies" and admitted he was no closer to getting to the bottom of it two days on.

A four-under round of 68 was enough for Panuphol Pittayarat to retain a one-stroke lead after two rounds of The Championship at Laguna National.

Pittayarat hit five birdies, lost a shot with a bogey six on the second hole and finished 13 under.

American David Lipsky, Chilean Felipe Aguilar and Australian Scott Hend are one shot back on 12 under.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho questioned midfielder Eden Hazard's commitment during matches saying he is "not ready sacrifice himself for the team".

Hazard's failure to track back on Wednesday allowed Atletico Madrid to equalise in the Champions League semi-final second leg. The Belgian later said in an interview the Blues are set up to counter-attack, not to take the initiative in games.

Worcestershire sign England Twenty20 record-breaker Alex Hales on a month's loan from Nottinghamshire as cover for Moeen Ali in the LV County Championship.

Hales will link up with the Division Two table-toppers after Ali was named in the England squad for next Friday's ODI with Scotland in Aberdeen.

England are also set to play Sri Lanka in five ODI's and one Twenty20 international between 20 May and 3 June.

Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood feels the club's final two games of the season should not have any bearing on who is manager next season.

Spurs face West Ham and Aston Villa over the next 10 days and there has been plenty of speculation that they will be Sherwood's final two games in charge.

"It should not make a difference," he says. "If we are relying on the last two games to decide the future of this club then it could be decided on a 30-yard shot or a referee's decision. The people upstairs will know who they want to run this club and the last two games should not make a difference."

Manchester United could appoint Louis van Gaal as their new coach early next week but caretaker boss Ryan Giggs has yet to decide whether he would like to be part of the Dutchman's staff.

"Nothing has changed. (This job) is just until the end of the season," Giggs says.

"We will chat when the season is over. The main concentration I have is on the Sunderland game and then after that the remaining two games. I have a lot to think about - whether to continue playing... But my concentration is just on now. We will see what happens at the end of the season."
