    League One Bradford City sign goalkeeper Ben Williams and attacker Mo Shariff on non-contract terms.

    Manchester-born Williams, 31, joins the Bantams having left Scottish side Hibernian at the end of last season.

    Shariff, 21, left Premier League new boys Queens Park Rangers in the summer and joins after a successful trial.

    Tiger Woods's caddy has been walking the course at Valhalla ahead of this weekend's final major of the year - the US PGA Championship.

    His presence has raised hopes that Woods - who withdrew from the WGC Invitational with a back problem on Sunday - could be fit.

    Teenage midfielder Connor Martin signs a short-term deal with Accrington Stanley.

    The 18-year-old was captain of Rochdale's youth team last season and has signed up at League Two Accrington after impressing on trial.

    "I am really pleased to sign for Accrington Stanley," says Martin. "I can't wait for the season to start now."

    The Bluebirds have bid for Bordeaux defender Lamine Sane, 27, and could be set to land Birmingham City midfielder Tom Adeyemi, 22.

    The South Wales Echo reports, external City are the only club to so far bid for Sane and Birmingham have confirmed Adeyemi has handed in a transfer request.

    Former Newport County boss Anthony Hudson is appointed New Zealand manager until 2018.

    The 33-year-old, who is the son of former England midfielder Alan, left his position as Bahrain coach last week and takes over from Ricki Herbert.

    "A big pull of why I've come here is to go to the World Cup," says Hudson, who worked under QPR boss Harry Redknapp at Tottenham. "And not just go to the World Cup, but go further than we've ever gone."

    British number one Andy Murray says he can train at "100%" again following a back operation late last year.

    The 27-year-old returned in December, but a quarter-final defeat at Wimbledon this summer has seen his world ranking drop to ninth.

    Trabzonspor complete the signing of Oscar Cardozo from Benfica.

    The 31-year-old Paraguay striker moves for an initial fee of about £3.2m.

    Cardozo joined Benfica in 2007 and scored 112 league goals during his time in Portugal, winning two league titles, a domestic cup and five Portuguese League Cups.

    New Zealand fly-half Dan Carter will miss at least half of their Rugby Championship campaign with a hairline crack to his fibula.

    The 32-year-old suffered the injury on club duty for Canterbury Crusaders as they lost 33-32 to New South Wales Warratahs in the Super 15 final at the weekend.

    He will miss New Zealand's opening two Championship fixtures against Australia as well as a Test against Argentina in Napier on 6 September.
