"I knew I'd struck the ball well and then I was delighted when it went in. Goals are not my game, that's not what I'm in the team to do, but when a chance falls I'll take it."

Inbee Park is celebrating her fifth major title after defending the Wegmans LPGA Championship on Sunday with a play-off victory over Brittany Lincicome in Pittsford, New York.

The South Korean approached the final two holes trailing by two shots, but a birdie on 17 and a vital 15-foot par putt at the last gave her a two-under 70 - matching Lincicome at 11-under 276 after the American bogeyed 18 to complete a 71.

That forced the pair to replay the 18th - the toughest hole of the course at Monroe Golf Club. Lincicome chipped six feet past and then failed with the putt, while Park, after finding the rough behind the flag with her second shot, chipped to three feet and coolly holed out.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is considering bringing defender Per Mertesacker back from his post-World Cup break early as injury cover for Tuesday's Champions League first leg play-off against Besiktas.

Mertesacker and his Germany team mates Mesut Ozil and Lukas Podolski were given the extended break by Wenger after the World Cup triumph last month but knocks to Laurent Koscielny and Kieran Gibbs in Saturday's last-gasp 2-1 win over Crystal Palace mean Mertesacker, 29, who last week announced his international retirement, could be drafted in to play in Turkey.

Caretaker boss Keith Millen admits the new Crystal Palace manager may decide to dismantle the team built by former boss Tony Pulis.

"This is the problem with changing managers," says Millen. "You bring in players to suit the system you play and if you are bringing in a different manager with different philosophies, then maybe they won't suit that.

"With the window shutting at the end of this month, the appointment is important so they have a little bit of time to bring in new players."

Arsenal captain Mikel Arteta believes "on fire" midfielder Aaron Ramsey can become as instrumental for the Gunners as former skipper Cesc Fabregas.

Wales international Ramsey scored an injury-time winner as Arsenal started their Premier League campaign with a 2-1 home win against Crystal Palace.

"We don't really have a 30 or 40-goal scorer at the moment, so to have players who can score goals from the middle of the park is very important," says Arteta.

"He reminds me a little bit of Fabregas when he was here. At his best, Cesc was coming off the front, making the final ball and scoring very important goals."

Harry Redknapp is a manager known for his wheeling and dealing, and the Queens Park Rangers boss is ready to dip into the transfer market before the end of the month.

Redknapp, who has already made four summer signings, says he wants to add two midfielders and a striker before the transfer window shuts.

"We need to get a couple more in, we're short in some areas," he says. "I've got three central midfield players - Joey Barton, Alejandro Faurlin and Karl Henry - when you need six midfield players really at this level.

"So we're looking to get one or two midfielders in and maybe a front man as well because we need a bit of cover there. You need four strikers in an ideal world."
