    The Tel Aviv derby between Hapoel and Maccabi was abandoned at half-time after a fan attacked a player who was then sent off for retaliating.

    In events described as "shameful" by Israel's sports minister, Maccabi midfielder Eran Zahavi was confronted by a bare-chested fan on the pitch.

    Slaps and kicks were exchanged before the fan was led away by security. Zahavi was then dismissed, prompting further pitch invasions before Monday's match was abandoned.

    State prosecutors in South Africa have filed an appeal against the conviction and sentence given to athlete Oscar Pistorius for killing his girlfriend.

    Last month, Pistorius began serving a five year prison sentence for the culpable homicide of Reeva Steenkamp, although he could be out in 10 months.

    The double-amputee Olympic sprinter was cleared of murder.

    Halifax fans with FA Cup

    The FA Cup continues on its tour of England this week and Halifax Town fans have today been given the opportunity to take their picture next to the famous trophy.

    The Football Association has organised a 'trophy tour' to five areas in England ahead of Warrington Town's first round FA Cup tie with Exeter on Friday.

    And so has English professional Jason Palmer. So much so that he decided to try a new chipping technique - with one hand. And now the 30-year-old has just secured a European Tour card for next year. Remarkable.
