BBC Sport reporter Simon Stone has been at Louis van Gaal's news conference: "Louis van Gaal's mood could not be said to have matched the grey Manchester weather at Carrington.

"However, there was a more sombre tone to his words and the first detection of irritation that his often repeated assertion that "a process" is taking place at Manchester United is now under close scrutiny given his team's relatively poor performance so far this season.

"By Van Gaal's own admission, 13 points from 10 games - United's worst start since 1986-87 (when Ron Atkinson was sacked) is not good enough. His admission that he feels 'lousy' for the club's fans and board says it all."
