    Rory McIlroy is named the 2014 Race to Dubai European Tour Golfer of the Year after a stunning season on both sides of the Atlantic.

    The Northern Irishman won the Race to Dubai and topped the PGA Tour money list, as well as winning the Open Championship and US PGA Championship as he reclaimed the world number one spot.

    The 25-year-old also won the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational and the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth, and adds the honour to the Golf Writers Trophy he was awarded last week.

    Daily Mirror:, external Striker Emmanuel Adebayor, 30, has returned to Tottenham after compassionate leave but is expected to be farmed out on loan in the January transfer window.

    Daily Mail:, external Atletico Madrid want to re-sign Chelsea striker Fernando Torres, 30, on loan at AC Milan, but only if he comes for free.

    What a career.

    Thierry Henry, who also played for Juventus, Barcelona and Monaco, scored 175 Premier League goals and is fourth on the list of all-time scorers.

    He won two Premier League titles and three FA Cups with the Gunners, where he played between 1999 and 2007.

    He added the Champions League trophy with Barcelona in 2009 and returned to Arsenal for four matches on loan from the Red Bulls in 2012, coming on as a substitute to score the winner against Leeds in the third round of the FA Cup.

    Former Stoke midfielder, Rory Delap - now a coach with Derby - was part of the Ireland squad that was denied a place in the 2010 World Cup by the Thierry Henry "Le Hand of God" play-off goal. Here is on BBC Radio 5 live discussing the recently-retired striker and that goal...

    "There are a few greats who spoil that with what they do. I'm sure he regrets that. There is still a lot of feeling back home. The fact that people stopped buying Henry hoovers shows how far it went and how horrible a thing it was to happen to the country. You don't mind getting beat by greatness - and that is what he had - but it is disappoiting that people remember that over all the great things he did. But that will in the top players is to win at all costs and sometimes you have to take the bad with the good."
