Plenty of Test cricket taking place in sunnier climes, and Kane Williamson (242 not out) and BJ Watling (142 not out) have set a new Test record for the sixth-wicket with an unbroken partnership of 365 on the penultimate day of the second and final Test with Sri Lanka in Wellington.

Sri Lanka, who lost the first Test by eight wickets, were set 390 and closed on 45-1. Watling was also involved in the previous record with Brendon McCullum on 14 February last year, and a plaque commemorating that stand of 352 had only just been completed at the picturesque Basin Reserve ground. Looking on the bright side for the signwriters, there is only one name to change I suppose.
