    Scottish rugby is in a better shape at all levels than it was when Mark Dodson became chief executive in 2011 - says the man himself.

    Dodson pointed out that the national body's debt, which once stood at around £25m, is now down to "£9m-10m". And he believes that performances by the two professional teams - Glasgow Warriors and Edinburgh - as well as the national team are improving.

    England's Jack Nowell has hit peak form at the perfect time ahead of the Six Nations, according to Exeter Chiefs coach Rob Baxter.

    The winger, 21, was , external last week and followed that with a try in his club's 45-3 demolition of Bayonne on Saturday.

    "Jack is standing out as strong, elusive and of very high quality - he's bang on it at the moment," Baxter told BBC Radio Devon.

    Mauro Milanese has left his post as sporting director at League One side Leyton Orient after just six months in the role.

    The 43-year-old had an eight-game spell as Orient boss earlier this season, but won just two games before reverting to the role of sporting director following the appointment of Fabio Liverani as manager in December.

    The FA Cup fifth-round draw is fast approaching and will include Bradford City, who produced one of the big upsets in the competition's history when they defeated Chelsea 4-2 at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

    Ahead of the balls being plucked from the bowl, Bradford forward Jon Stead says: "Obviously like everyone else we want another big draw. That's the dream. I think for the fans 6,000 tickets were sold out almost instantly for the Chelsea game.

    "So a big side at home would be great for the club because it means that the people who did miss out get to cheer us on at home. Any Premiership team coming to Valley Parade will find it a difficult place to come and play."

    Hibernian have signed former Hamilton Academical goalkeeper Tomas Cerny on a six-month deal.

    The former Czech Republic Under-21 international moves to Easter Road after spells with CSKA Sofia in Bulgaria and Greek side Ergotelis.

    "My wife is Scottish and we were keen to relocate back to Scotland, so when the opportunity came up it ticked all the right boxes," Cerny said.

    Salford owner Marwan Koukash insists his plan to have an English team competing in an expanded NRL from 2018 is viable.

    The racehorse magnate is proposing the "British Bulldogs" play home games around England and in Dubai.

    The Palestinian said: "I can't see why an English team cannot participate. The distances involved would be greater but the world is a much smaller place nowadays. I have a major airline willing to back it and a hotel group also willing to provide sponsorship and we haven't started to market it yet."
