    Manchester United forward Robin van Persie says he has no idea whether he will sign a contract extension at Old Trafford. The 31-year-old's contract ends in the summer of 2016.

    "It is not up to me. For the moment I am staying here for 18 months," the Netherlands striker said on Monday. "That is it really. I can't look into the future. I don't know what is going to happen after that. We shall have to wait and see."

    Millwall sign Southampton defender Jos Hooiveld on loan until the end of the season.

    The 31-year-old Dutchman had a loan spell at Championship side Norwich City earlier this season, making six appearances for the Canaries.

    The former Celtic defender becomes Millwall's sixth signing of the January transfer window.

    In an exclusive interview with BBC sports editor Dan Roan, shamed cyclist Lance Armstrong has said he believes the time is coming when he should be forgiven for doping and lying. And he said he would probably do it again.

    Armstrong, 43, was stripped of his record seven Tour de France titles and banned from sport for life by the United States Anti-Doping Agency (Usada) in August 2012.

    "If I was racing in 2015, no, I wouldn't do it again because I don't think you have to," he said. "If you take me back to 1995, when doping was completely pervasive, I would probably do it again."

    World Snooker has announced the death of former Tour player Lee Spick. The sport's governing body said Spick had passed away at the age of 34 after a liver-related illness.

    Spick was on snooker's main tour from 2000 to 2010, twice reaching the final qualifying round for the World Championship.

    Shaun Maloney says he could not turn down the opportunity to move to Chicago Fire. The midfielder completed his move from Championship side Wigan Athletic for an undisclosed fee.
