    The 14-time Major winner equalled his worst-ever nine holes as a professional as he slipped into a share of last place during the second round of the Phoenix Open.

    Woods, 39, took 44 shots after starting on the back nine at TPC Scottsdale, matching his record at the Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village in 2013.

    Former England Under-21 midfielder Jack Cork signs a three-year deal with Swansea.

    The 25-year-old, who was out of contract at the end of the season, made over 150 appearances for Southampton after joining permanently from Chelsea in 2011.

    Former Newcastle and Hull winger Hatem Ben Arfa cannot play for new club Nice until next season following a French league ruling.

    Fifa transfer rules prevent a player from turning out for more than two clubs in one season.

    The 27-year-old played eight games for Hull and one for Newcastle's Under-21s earlier this season, with Fifa ruling the latter to be an official match.

    Now the French Football League have announced that Ben Arfa's appearance in a match for Newcastle's development side counted as a competitive fixture.

    Fifa rules state that "players may be registered with a maximum of three clubs during one season. During this period, the player is only eligible to play official matches for two clubs."

    Premier League side West Ham agree a £1m compensation package to sign Hamilton defender Stephen Hendrie on a pre-contract, confirm the Scottish club.

    The 20-year-old left-back will join the east London club at the end of the season.

    Hamilton claimed that Reading and Bournemouth were also interested in the former Accies youth player, who is out of contract in the summer.

    Newcastle Falcons head coach John Wells believes back-rower Mark Wilson's continued good form will be enough to win a place in the England set-up.

    Wilson, 25, has been a stand-out performer this term, with 138 tackles putting him among the five most prolific Premiership players.

    However, the Cumbrian was not named in the Saxons side on 21 January.

    "Mark's doing well, if he keeps playing like this no doubt his time will come," Wells told BBC Newcastle.

    The 31-year-old has scored three goals in 21 Conference games since joining Boro in September.

    Meanwhile, Crawley have made Dean Morgan's loan move from Woking into a permanent switch.

    Fifa presidential candidate David Ginola says he will not stand in May's election.

    The Frenchman, who played for several English clubs including Newcastle and Tottenham, did not receive the required five nominations needed to continue his bid.

    "Contrary to some reports, I did not withdraw. Just as I did as a player, I gave everything until the final whistle," he says.

    "Today I have mixed emotions. There is disappointment, anger, but there is also hope. I'm very proud of my campaign and the policies I proposed to reform football."
