    Millwall, QPR and Fulham are the London venues being considered by Wigan Warriors for a Super League fixture in the capital.

    Wigan owner Ian Lenagan, a former director and major shareholder of London Broncos, wants to switch one of his club's home fixtures to the capital and is confident of making the move this season.

    "It is a sensible way of expanding the game," Lenagan said.

    Police are investigating an alleged road rage incident involving former footballer Roy Keane.

    The 43-year-old former Manchester United captain is said to have got into an altercation with a taxi driver in Altrincham town centre, which led to police being called.

    A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: "At 11.30am, police were called to Ashley Road, Altrincham, to a report that a man had behaved aggressively towards another man. An investigation is under way to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the incident."

    Keane, who has previously managed Sunderland and Ipswich and is currently Republic of Ireland assistant manager, lives in nearby Hale.

    Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman says it will take "much longer" than first feared for him to recover from another knee injury.

    The Netherlands international, who has been heavily linked to Manchester United during the past couple of seasons, was substituted in the first half of Saturday's 1-1 draw at Fiorentina.

    He returned to the Roma side in November following a nine-month lay-off after tearing his cruciate ligament.

    Fiorentina coach Vincenzo Montella says Colombia winger Juan Cuadrado will not play for the Italian side this weekend, as he finalises a move to Chelsea.

    The Premier League leaders are close to sealing a £23.3m deal for the 26-year-old, while Blues winger Mohamed Salah, 22, is likely to go on loan to the Viola as part of the deal.

    "It was a sale that had to be done," says former Italy striker Montella. "The club has done the right thing because we are also getting a very good player.

    "I am convinced that if Cuadrado could have played against Genoa tomorrow he would have."

    League Two side Burton Albion sign Derby County utility player Tom Naylor on a loan deal until the end of the season.

    "The top five teams in the men's event qualify for the 2016 Rio Paralympics with GB also hoping for a third European title in a row after winning in Germany in 2013.

    Stoke City defender Robert Huth will serve a two-match suspension after he admitted breaching FA Rules in relation to comments he made on social media.

    Huth, who has been linked with a loan move to Leicester City, replied 12 times to a Twitter account that asks users to guess the gender of individuals pictured in explicit images.

    An FA statement, external added that Huth was also fined £15,000 and ordered to complete a mandatory education course.

    Sunderland manager Gus Poyet says Saturday's Premier League match against Burnley "has to be the turning point" in his side's season.

    Sunderland and Burnley are tied together on 20 points, just a point above the relegation zone.

    "We try to make sure that the next game is the most important one and I think Saturday's game has to be the turning point," said Poyet.

    "There are no more excuses with players coming or leaving or anything else, so it is just about us going in there with the group that we have and performing and winning the game."

    Midfielder Adam Forshaw is looking forward to rediscovering his form at Middlesbrough following a difficult six-month spell at Wigan.

    He moved to Wigan from Brentford in September but Forshaw, 23, made just 17 appearances for the Latics before joining Boro earlier this week.

    "There's no hiding from it, it was a tough six months for me and the team," Forshaw told BBC Tees. "I moved to Wigan to make the next step in my career but it was stop-start, the manager was sacked and players came in and out.

    "It was a bit turbulent and I didn't have a great time but now I'm looking forward to what's ahead with Middlesbrough."

    Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert wants to tap into Scott Sinclair's potential after landing the winger on loan from Manchester City.

    "I'm thankful we got the deal done because I think he's a player with great unfulfilled potential," Lambert said.

    "The Manchester City move was not a good one for him. But the opportunity to play for a club like that hardly ever comes to you and when it does, it's very hard to turn it down.

    "I'm pretty sure he will have learned a lot in football terms from it, whether he realises it yet or not. Now's the time he can kick on and get his career up and running."

    World number one Rory McIlroy fired a sublime 64 to move to the top of the leaderboard at the halfway stage of the Dubai Desert Classic.

    McIlroy made three birdies in his final three holes to take a one-shot lead over Scotland's Marc Warren.

    Warren led for much of the day after his 65 left him on 13 under before the Northern Irishman's late flurry.

    McIlroy's compatriot Graeme McDowell and England's Seve Benson (yes, he is named after Seve Ballesteros) share third spot on 12 under.

    Former England spin bowler Richard Dawson has been appointed as Gloucestershire's new head coach.

    The 34-year-old takes over from John Bracewell, who has stepped down as director of cricket at Bristol.

    Dawson played seven Tests for England between 2001 and 2003, all of them overseas.

    The 30-year-old had been linked with a move to English football but has signed until the end of the 2016/17 season.

    McPake joined Dundee in the summer after leaving Hibernian following the Edinburgh side's relegation.

    Stoke boss Mark Hughes has responded to speculation he is to be offered a new contract - and it sounds like a deal is not far off.

    "The owners have intimated that they would like to discuss a new contract with me, but that's been it," said Hughes, whose side host QPR on Saturday.

    "It'll be discussed in due time. I am pleased they feel they want to commit to me and have me as their manager for a longer spell."
