  1. Do Arsenal need a new defensive midfielder?published at 09:22 Greenwich Mean Time 2 February 2015

    Arsenal

So do Arsenal still need that defensive central midfielder? It was all the talk when the transfer window opened but they haven't been doing badly without a new one in recent weeks. See why former Gunners defender Martin Keown does not think that is needed here.

  2. Quiet day at the Gunnerspublished at 09:21 Greenwich Mean Time 2 February 2015

    David Ornstein
    BBC Sport

"There is unlikely to be any business in or out of Arsenal today. The Gunners are still keen to recruit a world-class holding midfielder, but that search will probably be stepped up in the summer. So, barring any late surprises, it will be a quiet day at the Emirates. Danny Welbeck was a late surprise in the summer window, but there is little expectation of a similar chain of events this time round.

"They have signed young holding midfielder Krystian Bielik from Legia Warsaw and utility defender Gabriel Paulista from Villarreal, while striker Benik Afobe joined Wolves permanently and fellow forwards Lukas Podolski, Yaya Sanogo and Joel Campbell all left on loan."

    Alex Stewart
    Football Manager computer game expert

"All-round midfielder Dele Alli is being linked with Spurs today and often makes the transition to a Premier League team in Football Manager, usually for less than £2m. After his big move he develops good passing, first touch, and vision stats but requires a lot of coaching to make the most of his potential."

  13. Who is heading for United's exit door?published at 08:55 Greenwich Mean Time 2 February 2015

    Man Utd

BBC Sport's Simon Stone: "Interest today at Manchester United looks more likely to centre around the players who might be leaving Old Trafford.

"Wilfried Zaha has been linked with a permanent move to Crystal Palace, where he is currently on loan, a deal United are open to. The Red Devils hierarchy will certainly not be standing in the way of Anderson either as he tries to secure a move back to Brazil.

"Main interest concerns Darren Fletcher though. The Scotland international was in London on Friday, supposedly to finalise a move to West Ham. He returned 24 hours later, the deal wrecked by the Hammers demand to make the initial signing a loan move rather than the permanent transfer initially intimated.

"Louis van Gaal has said he would be happy for Fletcher to remain at the club for the final few months of his contract. But the player just wants a chance to play. Could West Brom, Hull - or someone else - offer him that?"

  14. All quiet at Old Traffordpublished at 08:54 Greenwich Mean Time 2 February 2015

    Man Utd

BBC Sport's Simon Stone: "After taking centre stage with the signing of Colombian striker Radamel Falcao on loan at the end of the summer transfer window, it could end up being a much quieter day at Manchester United.

"Weekend links with PSG defender Marquinhos have been played down by the United hierarchy, who have maintained throughout January that they would only go after pre-exisiting targets - and it seems no-one is willing to sell."

Today Fifa Interactive World Cup 2014 Grand Final competitor David Bytheway and Football Manager expert Alex Stewart will be providing insight and analysis of players involved in deals from a gamer's perspective.

Here Alex looks at a player that might make an impact in the Premier League.

"A few Romanian players have recently made the crossover into English football with some success, and this intelligent winger, with great anticipation and good creativity, could be another. Currently playing for Dinamo Bucharest, in my current game he is at Chelsea by way of Granada. Indeed, the Blues would make a sensible suitor for Rotariu, who has the versatility to play anywhere across an attacking midfield three in a way that would suit Jose Mourinho's current set-up."

  16. No business for Villapublished at 08:47 Greenwich Mean Time 2 February 2015

    David Ornstein
    BBC Sport

"Aston Villa are not planning to do any more business before the transfer window closes at 11pm today.

"Villa lost 5-0 at Arsenal on Sunday to leave them three points above the relegation zone after eight league games without a win and more than 10 hours without league goal.

"But having recruited Carles Gill from Valencia for £3.2m and Scott Sinclair on loan from Manchester City, they are not expecting any further arrivals."
