    Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew is in a happy mood today, as he discusses his side's business in the January transfer window, including the decision to bring winger Wilfried Zaha back on a permanent deal from Manchester United.

    "It was important to secure his future and kick-start his career," says Pardew. "He has fabulous technical ability and he needs to bring that consistency now. When you're fighting in a relegation scrap, as we are, you need everyone pulling together."

    Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino says Arsenal will cope with the absence of forward Alexis Sanchez.

    Pochettino says: "They have so many good players, like Olivier Giroud, Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Mesut Ozil so although Alexis is a very good player, Arsenal have players that can replace him."

    Asked about striker Emmanuel Adebayor, who saw a deadline day move to West Ham collapse, Pochettino replies: "We're happy for him to stay here. He is a very important player and we need to provide him with the tools to improve his game. Like all players, he needs to train in a good way and I have confidence in him."

Also, no one has taken more wicketkeeping (474) dismissals than the Sri Lanka legend, who will retire from one-day international cricket after the World Cup.

    The 39-year-old former pace bowler has been linked with the BBL and at least two teams are seeking new coaches for 2015-16.

    "I would be happy to chat to interested parties in the BBL," said Gillespie, who led Yorkshire to the County Championship title last summer.

    Arsenal say they are aware of photos of Jack Wilshere posted on social media apparently holding a shisha pipe at a nightclub and take a dim view on players smoking, the Press Association reports.

    The pictures of Wilshere - currently sidelined with an ankle problem - were posted on Instagram and them Twitter.

    Gunners boss Arsene Wenger spoke out against footballers smoking following revelations goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny lit up in the showers after a 2-0 defeat at Southampton on New Year's Day. The Poland international has not started a Premier League match since.

No batsman who has scored more than 8,000 runs as an ODI opener has a better strike-rate than Gilchrist, while his 472 wicketkeeping dismissals is bettered only by Kumar Sangakkara.

    Bad news Arsenal fans. Manager Arsene Wenger says that forward Alexis Sanchez will miss their north London derby on Saturday away at Tottenham.

    "The latest is that Alexis is not ready," says Wenger. "He is not far away, the Leicester game is a possibility. He is of course very difficult to keep quiet. He is training but it's light training."

    Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has suggested that he made it easy for Ronald Koeman to take over at Southampton.

    Pochettino, who led Saints to eighth in the Premier League before taking over at Spurs in the summer, told Catalan radio station RAC1: "It is always easier taking over a winning team which is the case this time with Ronald."

    Walsall's 15-goal top scorer Tom Bradshaw has been sidelined by his second hamstring injury of the season.

    The Johnstone's Paint Trophy finalists will face the next fortnight without Bradshaw, who has already missed seven weeks of action this season with a similar injury.

    But he should be fit for the JPT final against Bristol City on 22 March, for what will be Walsall's first trip to Wembley in their 127-year history.

    Undoubtedly the finest cricketer that Zimbabwe has ever produced, Flower's achievements on the field are often overshadowed by his 'death of democracy' protest at the 2003 World Cup and his time as coach of England.

    Only three men - Kumar Sangakkara, Adam Gilchrist and MS Dhoni - have scored more runs as an ODI wicketkeeper, a feat made more remarkable as it was done in a team that often struggled.
