"I would say Cav is a no. We would have opened the door to Cav, of course," said Sutton. "He can do anything technically, he has been world champion on the track and the greatest road sprinter of all time.

Prince Ali, a Fifa vice-president and executive committee member who is one of three men standing, with Uefa support, against Blatter in this year's presidential elections, said: "Media reports over the weekend are a reminder of why we need Michael Garcia's report into FIFA's World Cup bidding process to be published in full.

Newcastle manager John Carver has told Remy Cabella not to be "disrespectful" to his team-mates following his angry reaction to being substituted.

Carver said: "All I said to Remy was 'don't be disrespectful to the guy who's going on'. It's great to see someone react to being taken off the pitch, but there's a way to do that. Gabriel Obertan was going on, and don't be disrespectful. It could be the other way round in the future."
