    Being ranked in the world's top 250 will no longer be enough to earn British players a wild card into Wimbledon.

    The Lawn Tennis Association advises the All England Club each year on which players should receive wild cards into the tournament, and its policy had been to put forward singles players with a ranking of 250 or higher.

    But the LTA said of the revised approach: "It will enable us to give consideration to attributes in addition to rankings when nominating those players who have the best chance of performing well in The Championships, such as attitude, professionalism, game development and recent form."

    Swansea City manager Garry Monk believes striker Bafetimbi Gomis is "trying too hard" but expects him to thrive once he breaks his goal drought.

    "He's probably trying too hard. Once he gets that first goal he will fly," said Monk. "Every striker needs it. Bafe's working well and I'm sure that goal will come soon.

    "Bafe's a quality striker. He's got all the attributes to do well."

    Paralympic champion Evan O'Hanlon has qualified for the men's able-bodied 100m event at the Australian National Championships in Brisbane next month.

    The 26-year-old, who has cerebral palsy, has won 100m and 200m gold at every major international event from the Beijing Paralympic Games onwards, amassing five Paralympic and seven world titles.

    And he clocked 10.80 seconds, just short of his world record of 10.79 to beat the qualifying time of 10.84 for the event from 26-29 March.

    Amateur player John Sutton has been charged with breaching snooker's betting rules and suspended from competition after an inquiry into his 6-0 defeat by Jamie Burnett last year.

    Irishman Sutton was beaten in an International Championships qualifier in Barnsley in September 2014. An investigation began after suspicious betting patterns were reported on the match. There is no suggestion Scotsman Burnett was involved in any wrongdoing.

    A date has yet to be set for the hearing. Sutton is not a World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA) member, but was bound by its rules after accepting an invitation to play.

    Ireland could have four British & Irish Lions back for Saturday's Six Nations clash with France in Dublin, with flanker Sean O'Brien also back in contention after suffering a hamstring injury in the warm-up before the Italy match in Rome last weekend.

    Jonathan Sexton, Jamie Heaslip, Rory Best, Cian Healy and O'Brien could all come into an Ireland side which was less than convincing in claiming an opening 26-3 win over Italy.

    O'Brien was a late withdrawal from the starting XV, but a MRI scan on Sunday night confirmed the forward suffered only a minor hamstring strain and he is poised to train on Tuesday.

    On-loan striker Jordy Hiwula believes his spell at League One Walsall will help him develop into a better player.

    The 20-year-old, on a one-month deal from Manchester City, scored on his Saddlers debut in their 2-0 win at Doncaster on Saturday.

    "Walsall have players from bigger clubs learning their trade here and I felt I would get to learn my trade and get better," Hiwula told BBC WM 95.6. "I want to play well, score goals and keep my place in the team."

    England head coach Stuart Lancaster says he does not anticipate making too many changes to his team for Saturday's Six Nations match with Italy at Twickenham, following last week's opening win over Wales.

    Lancaster confirmed that Geoff Parling, Brad Barritt and Kyle Eastmond should all be available for selection. Courtney Lawes and Tom Wood are also on the mend, and may be in contention to face Ireland in Dublin on 1 March..

    Manu Tuilagi is "still some way of playing club rugby" but Lancaster has not ruled him out of playing some part in the competition.

    Leicester boss Nigel Pearson, whose team face Arsenal at the Emirates tomorrow, plays a typically straight bat to the constant questions over speculation he was sacked following Saturday's defeat against Crystal Palace, during which he was involved in a touchline incident with Palace's James McArthur.

    "I'm not going to speak about it, we've got a game tomorrow it's important my focus and the focus of the players is what we can do tomorrow night rather than talk about something I'm not prepared to talk about.

    "The players have trained this morning and we're looking forward to the game against Arsenal.

    "It's always interesting to see more people here than we're used to, which happens when there is speculation or a different type of story."

    Dagenham and Redbridge have extended Charlton defender Ayo Obileye's loan deal until the end of the season.

    The 20-year-old joined the League Two side in November and has played 13 times, contributing two assists.

    Former Chelsea youth team product Obileye signed for Charlton from Sheffield Wednesday last summer, having previously been captain of the Owls' development squad.

    QPR caretaker manager Chris Ramsey says he would be delighted if he was offered the job on a full-time basis.
