    Hartlepool United manager Ronnie Moore is not considering his future, despite Saturday's defeat by Bury leaving them eight points adrift in League Two.

    The 62-year-old took charge in December on the same day that TMH 2014 Limited announced their takeover of the club.

    That has since collapsed, and Pools are now two points further from 22nd place than when Moore was appointed boss.

    "I've no intention of leaving Hartlepool, I love every minute of my job, it's a big job," he tweeted.

    Wales defence coach Shaun Edwards says Jamie Roberts will "hopefully" return to play in Wales ahead of the 2015 World Cup.

    Racing Metro's Roberts is reported to be leaving the French club, opening the prospect of a dual contract in Wales.

    Roberts' Racing team-mate Dan Lydiate returned to Wales - with Ospreys - this season, and the duo are expected to be named in coach Warren Gatland's team to face the French at Stade de France on Saturday.

    "We want all our players back in Wales, but I haven't spoken to Jamie about it," said Edwards.

    Referee Martin Atkinson, who was at the centre of the controversial sending off of Chelsea Nemanja Matic on Saturday, will not take charge of a match this weekend.

    Atkinson was in the spotlight for his decision not to take action against Burnley's Ashley Barnes for a studs-up challenge on Matic, and his subsequent dismissal of the Serb, who bundled Barnes to the ground in the aftermath.

    With a reduced Barclays Premier League fixture list, due to the Capital One Cup final between Chelsea and Tottenham, Atkinson is required only for fourth official's duty at Manchester United versus Sunderland on Saturday.

    He will be back on the pitch three days later, taking charge of Crystal Palace's trip to Southampton.

    Ireland's Niall O'Brien has welcomed a call from Indian great Sachin Tendulkar for associate nations to be given more opportunities at international cricket's top level.

    Tendulkar wants nations such as Ireland and Afghanistan to be able to play more games against full member countries, while Sri Lanka batsman Mahela Jayawardene has also criticised cutting teams at the next World Cup to 10 from 14.

    "Great to see Sachin getting behind Ireland," O'Brien tweeted.

    Tendlukar had said: "To play against them every four years is not enough and we need to look into it and look to encourage them more by making them play international games against the top sides."

    Atletico Madrid midfielder Tiago has urged the club to offer manager Diego Simeone a 10-year contract.

    "We have seen what has been published in the media and we are very pleased," said the former Chelsea midfielder. "The talk is of five years but we would like it to be 10."

    Atletico have won the Europa League, the Copa del Rey and their first La Liga title in 18 years since Simeone took charge in 2011.

    His current deal ends in 2017 and his side face Bayer Leverkusen in the last-16 of the Champions League on Wednesday.

    British cycling technical director Shane Sutton has just told BBC Radio 5 live Drive he has total confidence the nation's cycling fortunes will improve ahead of Rio 2016.

    After dominating the sport for years, Great Britain left the Track World Championships on Sunday without a single gold medal for the first time in 14 years.

    "Expectation is always going to be high when you've achieved what we have," says Sutton. "That's off the back of the great athletes like the Pendletons and the Hoys. I think at this moment in time the athletes feel they have to perform and be ready, there's a pressure. I am sure we will get it right. I'm confident in the team.

    "It's good to see all the other nations stepping up. Competition is healthy and we have to be on top of our game at all times. It is good for the sport, the medals are spread but I'd like to see a lot more coming our way before Rio."

    Matic was sent off but Chelsea have announced they will appeal the red card which would see him miss Sunday's League Cup final meeting with Tottenham.

    A 5-0 defeat at Manchester City on Saturday left the Toon Army 11th in the table and afterwards, Keegan, working as a television pundit, spoke of his confusion with the club's direction.

    "It hurts me to say it but Newcastle are a club going nowhere," Keegan told BeinSports., external "John Carver is valuable to have around the place but he won't be manager next season."

    Carver has been put in temporary charge until the end of the season.

    Fernando Alonso is making a "solid recovery" in hospital according to his McLaren team, who say mechanical failure was not the cause of his crash in testing in Barcelona.

    Alonso was air lifted to hospital after crashing into a wall on turn three at Circuit de Catalunya on Sunday and McLaren says "unpredictably gusty winds" caused the incident.

    "We can categorically state that there is no evidence that indicates that Fernando's car suffered mechanical failure of any kind," says McLaren in a statement. "We can also confirm that absolutely no loss of aerodynamic pressure was recorded.

    "Finally, we can also disclose that no electrical discharge or irregularity of any kind occurred in the car's ERS system, either before, during or after the incident."

    Barely a week goes by without hearing of strife for Tiger Woods these days.

    The 14-time major winner has fallen to number 70 in golf's official world rankings., external That is the 39-year-old's lowest mark since 1996, the year he turned professional.

    Woods has withdrawn from three of his last eight competitive tournaments and said he would not return to competitive play until his game is "tournament ready".
