    More from Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini, who says: "At this stage of the competition when you play over 180 minutes it is very important to win the first game. After that, try not to concede goals here at home. If you can't, draw, but 0-0 is better than 1-1.

    "Our team is also demonstrating we are playing better away than we did last year.

    "I don't think that last year we changed our style. Maybe we couldn't do what we tried to do. As I say, we had played 19 games in two months. So we tried to play another way.

    "The main thing for our team is to try to fight for the possession of the ball, that's very important. We need to have the ball as long as we can. After that, give good distribution to take Barcelona as near to their box as we can."

    Manchester City only picked up two points from their first four Champions League matches this season, before two wins saw them reach the knockout stages.

    "We never thought we were out of the Champions League," says boss Manuel Pellegrini. "We had the trust to continue to fight until the end. This team will always try to do it.

    "We didn't play well, especially here at home against Roma and CSKA Moscow but our team showed the personality and quality to qualify."

    Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini, whose side lost 4-1 to Barcelona on aggregate in the last 16 of the Champions League in 2013-14, says: "Last year was different to this year.

    Video footage has emerged of a group of men, thought to be West Ham fans, chanting anti-Semitic abuse on the London Underground.

    Anti-discrimination group Kick It Out has contacted police over the footage, filmed on Sunday.

    The video appeared on social media showing fans on the way to the 2-2 draw with Tottenham at White Hart Lane.

    It comes after an incident of alleged racism by Chelsea supporters on the Paris Metro, when footage showed a black man being pushed from a train.

    The Scot endured a tumultuous end to his reign at the Cardiff City Stadium where he guided the Bluebirds to promotion to the Premier League in 2013.

    "Managers get the sack - that happens, but there are some really good people that work there and I enjoyed my time down there and I was very proud of a lot of people down there," Mackay tells his news conference. "You make friends and you have special moments at every club you're at. They are the things you hold on to."

    Mackay confirmed Jermaine Pennant will be in his squad after the 32-year-old joined until the end of the season.

    Fabio Cannavaro, Lilian Thuram and Gianfranco Zola are just a few of the greats to have played for Parma, but this week the club's players could face the harsh reality of having to pay for their own transport.

    Serie A's bottom club are in dire straits financially. Their players have not been paid all season and the club, which has changed hands twice in two months, is in danger of not finishing the campaign.

    Their home match against Udinese was called off on Sunday as they could not afford to pay for stewards or police and some of the fans protested at the way the club is being run.

    "It's like being in a film. We've seen everything you could possibly imagine, with four different presidents this season," club captain Allessandro Lucarelli told Radio Anch'io.

    "Today, we are starting our preparations for the match against Genoa and if there isn't a bus we'll get five or six cars together and travel in them."

    Yeovil acting manager Terry Skiverton has revealed he could not watch Adam Morgan take the penalty which secured his side a point against Gillingham.

    Morgan, 20, was recalled by Skiverton on Saturday after an 11-month exile from the squad and in injury time stepped up to score his first senior goal to earn the struggling Glovers a 2-2 draw.

    "He was a brave lad for stepping up at that moment," said Skiverton. "I actually walked down the tunnel, I couldn't watch it. And when Adam picked the ball up I walked even further. I thought 'I'm not turning back'. "But the lad's got self-confidence. Morgan picking the ball up was a good decision."

    Italy prop Martin Castrogiovanni is set to miss Saturday's Six Nations match against Scotland at Murrayfield after being bitten on the nose by a friend's dog, the Ansa news agency reported on Monday.

    The Italian rugby federation said Castrogiovanni had suffered a "slight domestic incident" and been left out of the provisional squad.

    Ansa said the Argentine-born 33-year-old had been playing with the dog which turned on him and caused a wound requiring 14 stitches.

    John Higgins claimed his first tournament since 2012 with victory at the Welsh Open on Sunday.

    In beating Ben Woollaston 9-3 the Scot, 39, sealed his fourth win at the tournament.

    "I was hoping there was going to be another high again and that's what keeps you going."

    Now we all want players to celebrate the right way when the score - or to not do so at all if they once represented your club - but crying? Is that too far?

    Manchester United winger Nani started blubbing after a stunning strike, external in Sporting Lisbon's 2-0 win against Gil Vicente on Sunday.

    It was an eighth goal in 24 appearances for Sporting since he returned to the club where he started his career on loan from United.

    Fernando Alonso's manager sees no reason the McLaren driver will not be fit to start the Formula 1 season after a heavy crash in testing.

    The Spanish driver, 33, hit a wall on the Circuit de Catalunya near Barcelona on Sunday and spent the night in hospital where he is undergoing tests.

    After the accident, his manager Luis Garcia Abad was asked if the two-time world champion will be ready for the 15 March, when the new season starts: "He is well and I don't think there will be any problems," said Abad.

    "The impact was quite strong but fortunately, it was nothing. He was conscious and able to speak."
