It was originally thought Heaslip would miss the England match.

  2. Arsene Wenger news conferencepublished at 13:07 Greenwich Mean Time 24 February 2015

Arsene Wenger admits there is a lot at stake when Arsenal face Monaco in the Champions League last-16 but says he relishes "these occasions".

"I love pressure because there's lots at stake and those are the ones you want to be involved with as a manager and a player," the boss says.

"We have had 17 consecutive seasons in this competition. 'Easy' is a word you need to ban in the Champions League.

"But we can be confident because we've won our games. We have the right commitment and spirit - but these are hard games."

That's it from Mr Wenger, but before we go - and for no real reason at all, other than we like it - here's a very artistic photo of Arsenal training earlier today. Nice tree.

  3. Arsene Wenger news conferencepublished at 13:00 Greenwich Mean Time 24 February 2015

As you would expect, Arsene Wenger is being very complimentary about his old club.

"It's an interesting game and I'm happy Monaco are back at the top level but now I'm focused on the game," he said.

"They are a disciplined team who are very strong in defence, well organised and dangerous on the break."

  4. Wales go Northpublished at 12:57 Greenwich Mean Time 24 February 2015

Fit-again wing George North returns as Wales make four changes to the side that beat Scotland for Saturday's Six Nations game in France.

Alex Cuthbert makes way for North, who missed the Murrayfield win after taking two blows to the head against England.

Samson Lee, who was concussed in the defeat by England, reclaims the tight-head spot from Aaron Jarvis.

Scott Baldwin takes over at hooker from Richard Hibbard, while Luke Charteris replaces Jake Ball at lock.

Arsene Wenger of course, when he was in charge at Monaco.

That's who his Arsenal team face tomorrow in their last-16 Champions League first-leg tie against Monaco at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners boss has been talking to the media ahead of the game and began by saying that Jack Wilshere is a doubt.

Wilshere missed training today, though Wenger stressed the midfielder has not suffered a relapse after his recent ankle injury.

  7. Beckham's Arsenal disappointmentpublished at 12:33 Greenwich Mean Time 24 February 2015

Arsenal are not expected to offer Brooklyn Beckham a scholarship, Press Association Sport is reporting.

The 15-year-old - son of former England captain David Beckham - has been playing within the club's Hale End academy set-up, and had his sights set on a two-year scholarship with the Gunners.

However, PA Sport understands Arsenal will not be offering terms to Beckham, who plays right midfield and had been called up to the under-18s squad earlier this month.

Beckham is set to remain at Arsenal for the remainder of the campaign, and could well look to continue his career at another club. Younger brothers Romeo, 12, and Cruz, 10, are also enrolled at Hale End.

More of your thoughts on a November/December World Cup in Qatar.

Lewis Kay: Still don't get why it has taken them four years after awarding it to Qatar to move it, when it should have been part of the bid originally.

Baggiewire: So with the 2022 World Cup will disappear the last British football tradition: Christmas football. I bet it never returns.

Sam J. Frampton: I think come 2023 we will look back and wonder why we made such a fuss about the winter World Cup.

599Rick: Internationals to go to World Cup whilst domestic season continues in 2022 ... what better incentive for clubs to develop youth?

Interesting point Rick, though not sure that's how the big clubs will view it...

  9. Cipriani swayed by England recallpublished at 12:25 Greenwich Mean Time 24 February 2015

Sale Sharks and England fly-half Danny Cipriani says his inclusion in the national set-up helped influence his decision to stay at the club.

The 27-year-old former Wasps and Melbourne Rebels man was out of contract at the end of this season but agreed a new two-year deal with the Sharks.

"The thing that swayed it was obviously the opportunity to play for England," said Cipriani, who has been on the bench for England's opening two Six Nations games.

  10. 'Too hot to leave hotel'published at 12:18 Greenwich Mean Time 24 February 2015

Fifa vice-president Jim Boyce continued: "But I came back from Mauritius from a Fifa Congress and I stopped overnight for two days in Dubai and this was the end of May, when I think temperatures were around 40C. I literally could not go out of the hotel.

"You can air-condition stadiums but you can't air-condition a country.

"The World Cup to me is the greatest sporting event in the calendar, not only for the players but for the thousands of spectators who will be going to the World Cup - and I think the conditions have got to be right for the players and the spectators.

"Fifa set up a task force and it involved all the different stakeholders - the players, sponsors, virtually everyone connected with football - and they've come up with a winter World Cup. I think honestly that is the only solution."

  11. 'Absolutely the right decision'published at 12:16 Greenwich Mean Time 24 February 2015

Some more reaction from Britain's Fifa vice-president Jim Boyce to today's news that a Fifa task-force has recommended the 2022 World Cup in Qatar should take place in "late November to late December".

Boyce said: "It's absolutely the right decision as far as I'm concerned - I've always been on record as saying that there is no way you can possibly play a World Cup in Qatar in June/July.

"I was not there when the original decision to play the World Cup in Qatar (was made). I want to make that very clear."

Your thoughts on a November/December World Cup in Qatar...

Andy McGovern: If you have to change the heritage of the World Cup to accommodate for safety, then Qatar shouldn't have been considered.

Patrick Jones: Completely ridiculous, this should have been sorted when Qatar made their bid, not after. what a mess from Fifa.

Hywel Jakeway: The knock-on effect of the flawed decision will be seismic. I'm not sure the logistical implications are worth the trouble.

Mark: 75% of players in the world cup play in Europe. How much does FIFA get from Uefa? Time for European leagues to play hardball.

The left-hander smashed 215 off 147 balls, including 16 sixes and 10 fours, in West Indies' 372-2 in Canberra.

He added an ODI record 372 for the second wicket with Marlon Samuels, who made a relatively sedate 133 not out.

Chasing a rain-revised target of 363 off 48 overs, Zimbabwe fell short as Gayle took two wickets and a catch.

Leon Smith's team will look for a repeat of last year's performance at the same stage, when they upset the US in San Diego to reach the quarter-finals for the first time since 1986.
