    Cologne forward Anthony Ujah has apologised after grabbing a goat by the horns after scoring in the 4-2 Bundesliga victory over Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday.

    The Nigerian grabbed Hennes VIII - the club mascot - by the horns and attempted to drag it on to the pitch before the animal's handler intervened.

    "Perfect Sunday. Sorry Hennes. I was a bit too rough on him," Ujah wrote on Twitter and Facebook., external

    Sports director Joerg Schmadtke added: "Hennes is used to such stuff. He may have a bit of a sore neck."

    United Arab Emirates will host the 2019 Asian Cup after beating outsiders Iran to stage the expanded 24-team tournament.

    The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) announced the decision after a meeting of their executive committee in Bahrain on Monday.

    Here's a curious one... a BBC reporter at Hemel Hempstead Town's Conference South fixture against Bath City ended up playing an important part in the game.

    Matt Mesiano was at the match for BBC Three Counties Radio, but when one of the assistant referees suffered a calf injury in the first half, he realised he was the only qualified alternative.

    "There was a 10-minute break for me to put on the other lad's outfit, luckily for me we were the same size," said the level seven referee.

    Martin Skrtel should be fit for Liverpool's Premier League match at Swansea on 16 March despite fears he had lost consciousness in Sunday's FA Cup quarter-final draw with Blackburn.

    Skrtel, 30, landed heavily on his neck after contesting a third-minute header. Following an eight-minute delay, the defender was taken off wearing a neck brace. "He could have been knocked out," boss Brendan Rodgers said.

    "He was fine, shouting he wanted to play on when he was on the stretcher."

    Former International Cycling Union (UCI) head Hein Verbruggen will be asked to resign his honorary presidency, after a report found doping culture still existed in cycling, and suggested collusion between Lance Armstrong and cycling's governing body.

    Current UCI president Brian Cookson says he will write to Verbruggen asking him "to consider his position."

    Cookson says Verbruggen, who was UCI president from 1991-2005, should have no role in cycling's future. The Dutch official retains his IOC honorary membership.

    New York City's first Major League Soccer match ended in a draw on Sunday as 62,510 fans saw Kaka snatch a late equaliser for Orlando City at Citrus Bowl.

    The former AC Milan playmaker scored with a deflected free-kick in the 91st minute, after Mix Diskerud put the away side ahead with their first ever goal.

    Former West Ham and Watford manager Gianfranco Zola has been sacked by Serie A club Cagliari after just 10 league games in charge.

    "Cagliari announce that Gianfranco Zola and his staff have been relieved of the technical leadership of the first team," the Sardinian club said in a statement.

    "It was a decision which was taken reluctantly against a great man who has written unforgettable pages in the history of Cagliari, bringing brilliance and giving international prestige to the land of Sardinia."

    Cagliari are 18th in the table, four points adrift of safety.

    Equipment belonging to disbanded Formula 1 team Caterham will be auctioned off over the next few weeks.

    The team, who were put into administration last October, folded at the end of the 2014 season and their remaining assets will be sold beginning on Wednesday, with race and pit lane equipment, 2014 chassis show cars, electronics workshop and test equipment all available.

    Bayern Munich captain Philipp Lahm has returned to training after breaking an ankle late last year.

    The 31-year-old last appeared in November before suffering the injury in training.

    Bayern have not missed the World Cup winner too badly - they are currently leading the Bundesliga title race by 11 points over second-placed VfL Wolfsburg.

    England coach Peter Moores has been speaking to Sky Sports folowing England's exit from the Cricket World Cup.

    He said: "You just feel hollow. We haven't played well enough and we have to accept that. I thought 275 was chaseable, although we didn't bowl as well as we could have done in the middle. We should have chased it down after a good start but we didn't. You've got to be able to deal with pressure in a tournament.

    "We definitely should have won the game and we didn't. I can't stand and say I'm making a difference when we've just been knocked out the World Cup."
