Westbrook was awarded the car after being named the best player at this season's All Star Game, but the guard decided he didn't need it.

Rodgers has come in for criticism after Liverpool suffered successive defeats in the Premier League to derail their top-four challenge.

But Bowyer said: "I think it's ridiculous that after losing two games, the team that was hailed prior to those two games as being the best in the Premier League then comes in for that.

"Brendan Rodgers has done an unbelievable job, he doesn't need me telling him. But that's just the world we live in now - it's crazy."

Alonso, 33, retired from the subsequent Malaysian GP but says he is looking forward to Sunday's race in China.

"That sort of progress really gives the whole team belief and confidence in the path we're taking," said Alonso. "The steps we took between Australia and Malaysia were extremely impressive."
